The New That Never Was Before

…there is no new thing under the sun.…

…it has already been in the ages that have passed before us…

{Ecclesiastes 1:9, 10}

Ecclesiastes speaks of the world of men and of labors and deeds of men:

– generation comes, and generation goes, yet, the earth continues her age, the wind goes round and round and returns to its circuits, the rivers run into the sea, yet, the sea is not filled, and rivers come back to their origin, so they shall run again

– all things are full of labor, yet, everything will be done again: there is nothing new under the sun; all existed in the ages that passed before us

– there is no memory of the first things; there will be no memory of the last things that will happen in the last time {Ecclesiastes 1:4–11}.

So, in the world of men, whatever existed before, will come again; it has already been in the Past, and it will come in the Future: the wars, plagues, errors, heresies, atrocities, crimes, catastrophes, hurricanes, rain and flood, sun and moon, day and night, love and hatred, virtue and sin, life and death – all that is the daily life of men has already been and it will be again and again until the earth completes her age.

Life at the earth is arranged by the repetitive cycles; each cycle has the same pattern.

Consequently, it should not be memory of the ancestors in persons who live in their Present: each mind has own cycle to complete, own knowledge to learn, own purposes to realize, own time–space–complexity point to embody own thoughts into the structures of the matter, and own reserves to use for achievement of the purposes. Each human being is the unique cosmos that has been created in the image and likeness of God either to accomplish His will within a particular universe or to perish.

However, each new generation comes for the sake of the same purposes: to cognize the good and the evil, to make a choice – either the good or the evil, to return back, from where the human spirit comes – to God, and to meet the destiny – the eternity, either with God or without God. It means that the general knowledge, which describes the world of which men should have dominion {Genesis 1:26–28}, is engraved into the essence of human being.

To sustain repetitions of the cycles, there also should be knowledge arranged into the transferrable from generation to generation pool of data and information and the set of the patterns of thinking and actions, from which newcomers would assemble their particular visions of the world, and with which they build their life.

So, since the beginning, the earthly existence of men and human establishments can be described with the same sets of patterns of thinking, actions, and their consequences. One set of patterns describes the cognition of the good; another set of patterns describes the cognition of the evil.

The knowledge of good never left the earth; Adam and Eve exiled from the Paradise brought at least some memory of the beginning into the world cursed for the sin of man. The knowledge of the good was transferred from father to son: even in the heathen world of idol–worshipers, the wise and chosen ones served true God {Genesis 3:23–24; 4:1–7, 26; 6:5–9; 12:1–4; 14:18–20; 17:1–8}.

Moses the Prophet left description of two patterns – the good and the evil – that define life of men and the world of men {Deuteronomy 27:1–26; 28:1–68; 30:5–20}. Since, these patterns never were altered; they become the inevitable reality of each human being and all his creations and establishments (family, nation, state, empire, etc.):

violations of the Law of God – sins and iniquities – are followed with
wars, disasters, famine, drought, flood,
and other “natural” or manifestly man–made disasters

those, who observe the Law of God, follow the good,
and the good is their portion.

In addition to the general patterns, all human beings have the same set of tools – the time, the space, the matter, the same terms – the Law/will of God, the same criteria of evaluation – the good and the evil, the same purposes, and the same ways to achieve them. It is not in the power of man to undo whatever has been done, to unlearn whatever has been cognized, to erase thoughts, words, and deeds from own memory and from the memory of the others.  Human life is irreversible:

nobody can change the Past –
its material arrangement does not exist anymore

nobody is able to prevent the consequences of the Past in the Present –
the material arrangement of the Past is the material basis
on which the Present comes into being

nobody can change the Future –
it rises on the material arrangement of the Present.

The law of irreversibility of cognition and the law of irreversibility of the matter are the constant part of the laws with which the temporal world of men is built.

When the ancient heathen philosophers came to understanding of the phenomenon of irreversibility, they invented a special deity: the inexorable Fate, the embodiment of the power that keeps everyone in his very own inferno of fixed destiny as a slave is kept in fetters by his ruthless owner. They imagined their world as the flux – the stream of changes that creates life, yet, their reality was the dark cage of prisoners without true knowledge of the world and, firstly, without knowledge of freedom.

In the heathen world, the destiny is inexorable indeed, because if there is no knowledge of the Law of God – the main Law that defines the human nature, each thought and each action might violate the Law. The violations of the Law lead to the perversion of the nature, that is to suffering, mental and physical illness, disorders of all kinds, and premature death. The way of the evil is the same for everyone and it has the same stages and the same end: nothing can be changed, because the main pattern of the evil always is unvarying:

Starting with Moses, the Prophets not only diagnosed the symptoms and omens of the coming disasters, wars, plagues, and other calamities; they told the reason, why the grief and suffering would come {e.g., The Book of Jeremiah}.

For instance, Isaiah the Prophet left the concise description of the Past, Present, and the Future of the earth, which will be ruined for the sins of her inhabitants, because they broke the everlasting covenant and served the evil instead of God. He also mentions the same two patterns that are the essence of the world and that are completed in two different ways: one that is concluded with ruin, destruction, and collapse and another leading to salvation {Isaiah 24:1–21; 26:1–15}.

So, in the world of those who are given the knowledge of God, the choice is a possible.

Any human mind that is born into the world without God, in fact, has no choice: all that it can learn, contemplate, invent, comprehend, create – everything is evil or serves the evil; there is no exit from the realm of the evil, and there is no knowledge that other realm exists.

The essence of the heathen world and the meaning of life within such a world might be inferred from Isaiah the Prophet’s writings concerning those who commit iniquities (e.g., idol–worshipers, heathens, apostates): they live in ignorance, and they are unable to understand why and from where all disasters come: they are as the blind who feel the wall, who feel at noon as at midnight. While they expect enlightenment, they walk in perplexity; their ways are destruction and misery. They are misled, so they may be devoured {Isaiah 9:12–16; 59:4–10}.

The same description might be applied to those who are born as the heathens and do not know true God: the ignorance does not protect from consequences of deeds committed in ignorance.

In general, cognition of the evil, violations of the Law of God, and the inevitable consequences (suffering and death of men, destruction and collapse of their establishments) are the most frequently observed reality.

Probably, the most tragic part of the history of mankind is the inability to connect the cause with the consequences. People understand, for instance, that the current vehicles (car, train) do not run without energy (oil, electricity). In the same time, they are unable to see that the world cannot exist without the divine energy of God; this energy comes only through those who live according to the Law/will of God:

– the curse, which the earth has to suffer because of iniquities of men, is visible and its consequences are known; it began with the original sin and entered the world of men with the first murder. Under this curse, the people live within the insufficient world, in which the fruits of the earth and fruits of men (thoughts, words, actions) can bear poison, evil, and death; the world, within which man – already deprived from the power of God – is unable to accept the life–sustaining power of the earth and had to complete his existence in groaning and trembling {Genesis 3:18–20; 4:8–12; Matthew 12:33–35; Luke 6:43–45}

– the material signs of blessing of those who live according to the Law of God, that is according to the human nature, became the rare occasion; they are almost unknown in the Present defined by devastation of unceasing wars and issuing poverty, plagues of mental and physical disorders, crimes, and insufficiency of all kinds. Yet, not many are able to see the inner peace received from God {John 14:27}.

With each passing day, the world sinks deeper and deeper into despair; all attempts to resolve crises, to prevent famines, wars, conflicts, genocides, and other calamities seem to be hopeless: it looks like the inexorable Fate of ancient heathens became the decision–maker in many lands, states, nations…

However, human life is not restricted by the world of the matter and its values: even when this world, which became the embodiment of the knowledge of evil, meets its end, life will continue for those saved by Lord God Jesus Christ {1 Peter 1:14–25; 2 Peter 3:7–15; Revelation 21:1–5}.

Thousands of years ago, when only insignificant part of mankind was given the Law of God, when the chosen nation was surrounded by the darkness of the heathen world, Isaiah promised something new, that did not exist in the cyclical inexorable Past of Ecclesiastes: the great Light would overcome those living in the shadow of death and they would be set free {Isaiah 9:2–4; 1 Peter 1:10}.

Isaiah spoke of the Messiah, the Savior Who would take on Himself the sins of the world, reconcile man to God, and give man the authority to become the child of God; he foresaw the coming of God Who would break the vicious circle of the evil and death, set His creations free, and open the way to the Homeland, to the Kingdom of God, into the new world without memory of the past evil, which will be born after the trial of man is complete and the evil is no more. So, this prophecy received embodiment into the actual life of Christians: the Word–God became flesh, and fulfilled the promise of salvation. He gave mortal prisoner the authority to become an immortal and free child of God, to accomplish the breakthrough from the fixed stagnant world of evil and death into the unlimited eternal Kingdom of God. When He, the Word–God, became man, He broke the wall of ancient prison of evil, which separated man from God; He annihilated the enmity of man to God, and through death on the cross, He reconciled man to God. He gave His followers the faith that is stronger than death and the power to overcome the world of evil; He opened them the knowledge that is the eternal life – the knowledge of God the Father. His power creates a human child of God and enables him to become the dwelling of the Holy Spirit of God, the living temple of the Holy Trinity {John 1:1–5, 9–18; 3:16–18; 14:1–10, 20–26; 15:1–5; 17:1–26; 1 Peter 1:2–25; 2:9–10;  1 John 5:3–13; Ephesians 2:1–22; 3:14–21; Revelation 21:3–4; 22:3–4}.

And I think that one of the main differences between the heathenism and true knowledge of God is hope.

The heathenism spreads restriction, insufficiency, and degeneration of perversion; its essence is slavery and hatred: hatred to God and hatred to man who is created in image and after likeness of God. The only freedom it allows is the freedom of corruption, promiscuity, and vice. Everything in this world carries the curse of ignorance and corruption –

starting with philosophy, which justifies slavery and bestialization of man

through the politics – the political organization and power of coercion
intended to enslave men, to deprive them of decency,
and to sacrifice their life and happiness for any idol

finishing with the cults of snakes, political and religious leaders,
and other beasts and idols in animal and human shape,
which are born by perverted imagination.

The heathen world is finite, flat, unchangeable, and hopeless: its essence is death, it exists by murdering and devouring living beings, it ends with death, and it tolerates only those who carry death within.

The true knowledge of God gives hope: whatever the material conditions of life are, the faith gives understanding of their true essence (temporal arrangement of the insufficient dissipating world of the evil) and focuses the mind on the Future world to come (infinite indestructible eternal Kingdom in which God will dwell with His creations). There is only one Way to this world – Lord God Jesus Christ, the Word–God Who is the Truth, the Light, the Life…

The Last Warning

…Watch that you not be led astray. For many will come on My name

Saying “I am,” and that the time has come. Do not go after them.…

{Luke 21:8}

Lord God Jesus Christ warns His disciples: when the last days are close, many will come covering themselves with His name. Pseudo–christs and false prophets will rise up; they will give great signs and wonders, so they would deceive, cause to err, and lead astray many, even the elect ones {Matthew 24:4–5, 24; Luke 21:8}.

To lead astray means to deceive the people and make them to accept figments of imagination as knowledge of God, so the deceived ones will willingly

– substitute the lies for the truth and the false assertions and figments of imagination for the actual knowledge

– substitute the laws of men for the Law of God

– substitute the doctrines and ordinances of men for the words of God

– substitute idols for God.

In summary, to lead someone astray means to make someone to believe in lies instead of truth, to put the laws of men in the place of the Law of God, to accept doctrines and ordinances of men as the teachings of God, and ultimately, to accept the idols and become the servant of the evil one.

For instance, God mentions those who violate the commandments of God for the sake of tradition of men: they speak of God with their mouth but their heart is far from Him; by teaching doctrines and ordinances of men, in vain they worship God; they are “the offspring of vipers”*1*, the blind leaders who lead their people into the pit of destruction, and their house is left desolate {Matthew 15:3–9, 12–14; 23:1–38}.

Presently, many denominations claim the name of Christianity, ecumenism spreads its tenets attracting many with the slogans of “unity in Christ’,” and pseudo–religious and political unions and affiliations attempt to unify the incompatible religions, ideologies, parties, platforms, etc., promising prosperity, yet, all they are able to give is perplexity, misery, and ruin {e.g., dove–bear unions – in: Isaiah 59:4–11}.

False prophets of pseudo–religions and of politics forcefully propagate their doctrines and teachings through commercial and other media and channels of communication. They arrange their members into the groups, parties, unions, which fight each other and multiply violence and unrest. Under the name of religion, they pursue worldly political purposes, support continuation of wars, justify inhumane policies and atrocities. They use the wordings from the Holy Scriptures and present themselves as the warriors of truth and peace. However, they have nothing in common with Christian teachings, and they are not of Christ.

Usually, the first thing they demand of their listeners is money; then, they request other kind of material support, political or military actions. They are the ferocious wolves in sheep’s clothing who deceive and enslave with empty slogans and references to Christianity and human ideals and freedoms, so they may lead astray and devour their victims, by depriving the deceived ones initially, of their possession and ultimately, of the very life.

How to discern the ferocious wolves and liars in those who cover themselves with the name of Christ?

The one who wishes to follow God and to protect own freedom and sanity should remember the words of Lord God Jesus Christ:

“God is the Spirit, and those worshiping Him must worship in spirit and truth”
{John 4:24}

“I am the Way, and the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to Father except through Me”
{John 14:6}

“My kingdom is not of this world… My kingdom is not from here”
{John 18:36}.

These words of God make clear that things of the material world – property, politics, titles, other material advantages and possessions – do not belong to the Kingdom of God; the soul–heart–mind of a human child of God is focused only on God and lives by God Who is the Spirit.

Man comes to God the Father (that is enters the eternal life) through observance of the words of Lord God Jesus Christ; the essence of the words of God is love: love to God and love to each other. Although people should confirm their love with material things (sharing of property, food, clothing, and other kinds of assistance and service through words and actions) and to reveal their faith with the deeds, the main part of life of the Christian is hidden from the others. This life is worshipping God within the soul–heart–mind, and nothing of the material world is needed to confirm or to reveal it.

Therefore, if any of references to God, with which religious and other leaders embellish own speeches, sermons, and messages, contains manifest or hidden call for any of violations of the Ten Commandments, approval of any kind of discrimination, support of violence, wars, or any assertion incompatible with the words of God {that is with the Gospels}, their authors are the ones against whom God warns as against the false prophets who lead to ruin.

God also gave His followers

– the universal criterion of judgment, which would allow discernment of the true essence behind words and slogans: “surely from their fruits you shall know them,” because the same tree is not able to bear good fruit along with bad fruit, and the evil and the good do not proceed from the same heart {Matthew 7:15–20}

– a possibility to comprehend a difference between the appearance and the inner essence, as it was told concerning the Pharisees who were money–loving and derided the words of Christ: they justify themselves before the people, but God knows their heart, for the highly prized things of men are abomination before God {Luke 16:14–15}.

For instance, the religion, which admits such methods of expansion as forceful conversion, crusades, torture chambers and the stakes of the inquisition, and conducts its rites through the “priests in the state of the mortal sin,” is not compatible with Christianity. When the leaders of such religion speak of “Christ” and use wordings snatched from the Holy Scriptures, they propagate another religion, not the Christian teachings: they worship another god, and their good is not the good of the Christians*2*.

So, what is the good for those who believe in Lord God Jesus Christ?

Again, the answer is in the Holy Scriptures: God is Love and the Source of the eternal life for His creations; therefore, God is the Absolute Good.

Love to God and love to the others are the greatest commandments on which the Law and prophets hang {Matthew 22:36–40}. Observance of these commandments prepares a human being for becoming a child of God born of the Holy Spirit of God. The child of God carries the Holy Spirit of God; he is the temple of the Living God, the dwelling of the Holy Trinity – the Almighty God Who is the Perfect Omnipotent and All–forgiving Love {John 3:16–18; 14:16–18, 23–26; 1 John 4:7–21; 1 Corinthians 3:16–17; 2 Corinthians 6:16–18}.

As any normal human child imitates his earthly father, a human child of God {John 1:9–13} imitates his Heavenly Father. Therefore, the child of God should possess the following:

firstly, the perfect unassuming non–discriminating love and mercy to all beings
{Matthew 5:38–48; Luke 6:27–38; 1 John 3:14–18; 4:7–21}

then, the features known as the fruit of the Holy Spirit –
love, joy, peace, long–suffering, kindness, goodness, faith, meekness, self–control
{Galatians 5:14–26}

then the ultimate freedom of the child of God
in whom the Holy Spirit of God dwells,
because where is the Spirit of God, there is freedom
{John 8:31–32; 14:15–17, 26; 2 Corinthians 3:17}.

In summary, Christian teachings is all the same in all the times and for all: love to God, love to each other, and absolute inner freedom, which emanates from love to God and faith in the Omnipotent Almighty God – the Father, the Savior, the Protector.

Consequently, any deceit, unrest, conflicts, violence, any crime (e.g., murder, thievery) as violation of the civil laws based on The Ten Commandments, any deprivation of the good, any hostile action against the others and against the property of the others, hatred, racial or other discrimination, support of those who kill and deprive the others of their human rights and freedoms, and other things, which usually are in the political agenda of politicians who cover themselves with religion, are not compatible with Christianity.

Consequently, when the Christian, who knows the last warning of Lord God Jesus Christ, desires to comprehend the message and the true essence of the messenger, he compares them with the words of God: then, the purposes they pursue, the actions they demand, and the truth of their promises become clear.

If any word from the message or any actions required from listeners and followers contradict the Gospels, they are the false prophets and idol–worshippers, and any affiliation with them should be avoided. Those who wish to serve God and worship Him in spirit and truth must separate themselves from the idol–worshiper and do not touch the uncleanness {2 Corinthians 6:14–18}.

Although anyone is free to participate in any political and civil activities, to become member of any group, party, affiliation, etc., and to pursue the manner of life consistent with his own outlook and his own purposes, the worldly aspiration and matters of men must not be deceivingly covered with the name of God. The wise people make their purposes the common goals through the common sense and wisdom, not through false and deceit.

And I think of the terrifying meaning of the words with which the Almighty God referred to Himself: “I am jealous God” {Exodus 20:3–5; 33:12–13; 34:14}. This jealousy makes the choice between two masters {Matthew 6:24; Luke 16:13} irreversible, impossible to be undone by the power of men:

either God and with Him love, freedom, eternal life

the evil one and with it slavery, misery, and death.

            If a human being intentionally chooses the evil, the entire world is not able to undo such a choice and to save him who is destined to perish with his arch–evil master {John 8:31–47; 1 John 3:9–15; 5:11–12; Revelation 21:8; 22:14–15}.

For those who serve the evil because of ignorance, still, is the hope that by the mercy of God, they will come to knowledge of truth. The first step to the salvation is understanding that the truth is only in the Gospels: this truth is knowledge of The Holy One and True God – the Perfect Love and Omnipotent Power revealed through Lord Jesus Christ – the Word–God {John 1:1–18; 14:6; 17:2–3, 6–8, 10–26; 18:37}.

This truth is not in the sermons of the false prophets, speeches of the shrewd politicians, and craftiness of the heretics who cover their worldly purposes with the wordings from the Holy Scriptures, and the harsh reality of the Present with the Old Testament’s reminiscences. Those who do not want to be led astray by the evil ones and to perish with them should protect themselves.

The protection is known from the beginning – God, and only God.

The Prophets and the Apostles left the guidance for those who want to live:

choose life, observe the Law of God, The Ten Commandments,
and the new commandment given by Lord God Jesus Christ – love each other as He loves us;
all this reveals our love to God, because love to God is fulfillment of His commandments
{Deuteronomy 30:10–20; Matthew 22:36–40; John 13:34; 15:10–13; 1 John 5:1–3}

hide the words of God in the heart,
so, it would not be possible to sin before Him;
look into the words of God as into the mirror,
so, it will be known how to live in dignity and according to the true human nature
{Psalm 118:11; James 1:21–27}

believe steadfastly, because faith in Lord God Jesus Christ is the victory over the world of evil,
therefore, be invincible with the power of God, with the omnipotent weapon of His Word,
and with the shield of faith
{1 John 2:15–17; 5:4–5; Ephesians 6:10–18}

relentlessly continue reading, learning, and doing the words of God;
be steadfast to yourself and to the Christian teachings,
so, the power of the Word–God would purify, heal, illuminate,
and sanctify the soul–heart–mind and prepare to the eternal life with God
{James 1:22; 1 Peter 1:3–25; 2 Peter 1:2–11; 1 Timothy 4:13–16}

although we live in the diverse societies, have to render “the things of Caesar to Caesar”
{Matthew 22:16–21},
and conduct business and daily life surrounded by different people,
including those plagued by sin, corruption, and perversion
{1 Corinthians 5:9–13},
we should always pursue the path of righteousness:
everything in human soul–heart–mind should begin with God, lead to God,
and be accomplished with God,
so, the life in God would be complete –
He is the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End,
and everything of man
{John 14:6; Revelation 21:5–7; Ephesians 4:17–22; 5:1–11}.

Yet, how hard is to open the Bible, the Book of Life, which for many became forbidden or unavailable or impossible to comprehend or simply unwanted…

 The Possession of Life

…God gave us everlasting life, and this life is in His Son.

The one having the Son has life.

The one not having the Son of God does not have life.…

{1 John 5:11–12}

St. John the Apostle gives the uncomplicated definition of life: the life everlasting is in the Son of God – Lord Jesus Christ, the Word–God Who was before all things, which came into being; all the living came into being through Him; without Him, nothing came into being {John 1:1–4; 1 John 5:11–13}.

These words open two dimensions or two phases of life:

– life as the existence within the world of the matter – this life is temporal and restricted as the world, in which it is accommodated, is temporal and restricted

– life everlasting that is not restricted with the boundaries of the limited temporal world defined by parameters of the matter.

So, when any human being comes into existence within the world of the matter, he enters the first phase of life; then, he must go through this temporal phase in the way that secures entry into another phase, which has neither time nor any known parameter of the temporal phase.

The Apostles use the images of the seed, fruit, tree, harvest, when they convey the will of God concerning life of His creations: the Gospels teach us to perceive ourselves as the evolving beings starting their life as a small seed and growing into the mighty tree or another fruit, which has to serve the purposes of the Creator and for the sake of which the garden of life was planted.

St. James the Apostle provides the general summary of these lessons:  βουληθεις απεκυησεν ημας Λογω Αληθειας, εις το ειναι ημας απαρχην τινα των αυτου κτισματων – because He wanted, for some purpose, He brought forth us by the Word of Truth to be a certain first–fruit of His creatures {James 1:18}.

The Earth accommodates life in different climate zones and under different conditions (fertility of the soil, frequency of rains, etc.), yet, in all of them, the essence of life is the same: the cycle of transformation of energy.

Similarly, each human being enters life within a particular family (or without it), within a particular society with a particular set of laws–rules–norms–traditions–meanings of the good and the evil and criteria of evaluation of the worth of man. Yet, the meaning of Christian life is the same: whichever the conditions of life are, we have to come to the same life–giving knowledge of the Word–God, to learn how to observe His words and how to fulfill His commandment: love each other as God loves us.

The Christianity does not depend on the manifest conditions of life, and it does not demand special terms: it is the world beyond of this world; it is the universe beyond all known by men, and it cannot be contained within the boundaries of one society, one state, one nation, one hierarchical establishment.

Moreover, the hierarchical establishments (especially the churches with thrones of the hierarchs and aspirations for the earthly powers and influence on the world affairs) are not compatible with the Christian teachings. And it cannot be otherwise, because Christianity is the immaterial realm of God Who is the Spirit, and because the purpose of the first phase of life – life within the world of the matter – is cognition of God Who is the Spirit, the Almighty Omnipotent Power before Whom the armies, weapons, nations, states, establishments, and possessions of men are counted as nothing.

The “structure” of the Christianity is simple: God and His creation – a human child of the Almighty Omnipotent God. Furthermore, the meaning of greatness within the world of Christians also is incompatible with the common criteria on which the earthly hierarchies are built: the one, who in this world of the matter – the world evaluated by the material possessions, gold, titles, access to the power of coercion, etc. – wants to be the greatest, should be the servant to all.

Consequently, the material values and possessions of man have no place within Christianity, because there is only one Source of the will, of the power, of everything – God: His will is the Absolute Law and the very life of His creations; His Energy – the Divine Love, is the source, the fabric, and the essence of life. The Power, the Law, and the Energy of God create, define, and sustain life of His creations.

So, the way into the eternity starts with the first step – cognition of the words of God. Cognition of the words of God prepares and forms the temporal creature of the matter – a human being – for acceptance of the Word–God, the Logos: the Truth and the Wisdom by Whom the world was created.

The Apostles advise the novices: accept the implanted Word, become the doers, not only hearers, look into the words of God and into the life of Christ as into the mirror, leave the evil deeds, refine own thoughts and cleanse intentions, do the good, avoid the evil, beware of the idols, stoop into the perfect Law of freedom and abide in it, build the entire life on the words of God, because everything that is not of God will not be with God {e.g., James 1:21–25; 1 Peter; 1 John 2:3–6; 3:1–18; 5:17–21; 1 Corinthians 3:11–23; 2 Corinthians 3:2–18; Revelations 21:8; 22:14–15}.

The acceptance of the Word–God reveals the greatest miracle of creation: the seed of the eternal life is planted within the temporal structure of the matter – a human body destined to disintegrate and to perish.

When the Word–God is the inner essence of man, the Holy Spirit of God comes, and an immortal child of God is born. At this moment, a human child of God enters the everlasting life: after completion of the first phase of existence and separation from the material world he goes to God.

The Prophets foresaw the process of coming of the Word–God into the world of men as purification of gold within the melting fire, which consumes impure additions and leaves the precious metal ready for the purposes of the Master {e.g., Malachi 3:1–3}.

And I think how simple and in the same time difficult is to transform own heart–mind into the carrier of the perfect Law of freedom, to make the commandments of God the very own guidance and basis for thoughts and deeds, to come into possession of life…

Today, many things, which constitute the contents of daily life, became incompatible with the perfect inner Law of freedom – the truth – given by Lord God Jesus Christ, the Word–God.

For instance, where are the consequences of the cognition of God, for instance, such as righteousness, justice, peace?

Those who believe in God with their thoughts and deeds must create the conditions in which other human beings might learn on practice the meaning of the words of God and therefore, easily evolve and mature for the everlasting life. These conditions include love to each other, truth, justice, mercy, compassion, peace, faith, and reverence to God. Today, they still might be found in the Book of Life given by God – the Holy Bible, but in the surrounding world, the very word “God” provokes whirlwind of hatred and uncleanness…

Many centuries ago, the Prophet warned that the unrighteous shall be tossed as the troubled waves; there is no joy to the ungodly {Isaiah 57:20–21}.

Does not life of the contemporary societies, which are full of evil and hatred, look as the darkness of the troubled waters carrying debris and uncleanness left by devastating tsunami?...

 The Vision of Light

…In Thy light do we see light.…

{Psalm 35(36):9}

Knowledge of God is the true human nature, and it was always known, even before the True Light came to illuminate the world: with God is the fountain of life; He is Almighty God–Creator, and in His Light do we see light; He guides and leads His people. The ancient world lived by the expectation of God and the chosen ones knew that the vision of truth and understanding of the nature of things – all that traditionally is referred to as wisdom – are possible only with God: the entirety of man in God {e.g., Psalm 35(36):9; Proverbs 2:6–12; Ecclesiastes 12:13; Isaiah 40:21–31; 48:16–18; 51:12–13}.

The image of the world before coming of the Messiah is darkness of the prison for those condemned to death, the dark pit from which there is no deliverance by the power of man. The world before Christ was as the suffering woman in labor crying from the pain of childbirth, yet, all in vain. Whatever labors and sufferings are endured, whichever works are accomplished – nothing helps: there is no possibility for a human being to reach salvation without God; His judgment is the Light of the world. The prophets told those in the fetters of ignorance and sin: only God is the Light and salvation; He would send His Word to redeem His people {e.g., Psalm 26(27):1; 106(107):10–20; Isaiah 9:2; 12:1–6; 26:17; 51:4–5}.

The coming of God was promised as giving bread and water the suffering and afflicted ones, as guidance on the way, as revelation of the teachers, as transformation of the darkness into the light, as the Great Light for the living in the shadow of death, as the life–giving rain on the arid lifeless earth, as freedom to condemned prisoners, as healing of the sick, as resurrection of the dead {e.g., Psalm 142(143):6; Isaiah 9:2; 12:2–6; 26:19; 30:20–21; 42:16–17; 44:3–4; 51:14; 60:1–3; Jeremiah 2:13; 17:13; Hosea 6:4}.

Then, it happened: the Light of the world, the Light Who is life of men, came as it was promised by God, as it was foretold by the prophets. With the Light, the judgment came: the Light of God reveals the essence of the deeds and thoughts of man. In those who come to Lord God Jesus Christ, the Light of God annihilates darkness: knowledge given by God sets the slaves of sin free, because it reveals the essence of things and exposes incompatibility of sin and evil with life {Isaiah 9:6–7; Malachi 3:1–5; Luke 1:26–55; 2:1–14; John 1:1–18; 3:16–21; 8:31–36; 9:5; 1 John 1–5}.

The Gospel According to John conveys the words of God {John 3:17–21}: God sent His Son do not judge the world; the Word–God came to save the world. Indeed, the people themselves choose own redemption or condemnation: the one, who believes in the Son of God – the Word–God, is not judged; the one, who does not believe in Him, is condemned.

From the words of God it might be inferred that the meaning of judgment is a personal and very own choice of each human being:

either to believe in Lord God Jesus Christ or to reject faith in Lord God Jesus Christ

either to accept the Light or to reject the Light.

Furthermore, in the moment of this judgment, the one receives the very own reward or punishment

either to be accepted by God or to be rejected by God

either illumination by the Light or the darkness

either knowledge of God or ignorance

either life or death.

However, this choice might be pre–determined: those who create the good – the works that are done in God, turn to the Light (for instance, because they have nothing to hide, because they have nothing to be ashamed of or to be afraid of other people’s opinion); those who practice wickedness and commit the deeds of the evil one, turn away from the Light, so their dishonorable and appalling deeds would not be exposed.

St. John the Apostles gives the explanation of judgment and the explicit warning of the consequences of evil deeds {1 John 3:1–24}, so, let no one lead astray those who seek the Light and life everlasting:

1/ the one who dwells in God, does not sin: he purifies himself to become pure as Lord Jesus Christ is pure

2/ the one who practices righteousness and love the brothers is of God

3/ the one who commits sin is of arch–evil

4/ the one who hates the brothers is murderer, and the murderer does not have life everlasting in him.

And I think of the moment of choice, καιρος – the time of the final decision, when the previous deeds come in the light of own conscience, which for a short moment perceives the Light of God, so the meanings of the evil might be exposed and the free choice might be made. Then, the Christians are blessed with the vision of the Light – with knowledge of God the Father of Lights that is everlasting life {John 1:1–4, 16–18; 3:18–21; 17:1–3; James 1:17}.

Therefore, if sharing food with the hungry and assistance to those in need are the righteous deeds, for which sins might be forgiven and the darkness might become as the noon–day {Isaiah 58:7–11; Matthew 25:31–46}, how great is the responsibility of parents and the educators who are expected to share their knowledge of the words of God with their children and pupils, to lead them to the Light!

The parents and educators should relentlessly teach those who depend on them in their growth and development to read the Holy Bible, so they would

learn the words of God

learn to observe the commandments of God

be prepared for the decisive moment of their life:
acceptance of the Word–God, the Light
Who is the Way and the Truth and the Life

be fed with the Bread of life – the Word–God
{John 6:27–51}

become the children of God and enter the life everlasting
{John 1:9–13; 3:3; 14:1–23}.

From another side, what might give more happiness than knowledge that the children are coming to the Light Who transforms darkness of the temporal world of the dissipating matter into the straight and shining way into the eternal kingdom of God…

Εκκλησια – the Meaning

For where two or three are gathered together in My name, there I am in the midst of them…

{Matthew 18:20}

The following words of God explain the meaning of the Christian Church – Εκκλησια – gathering of the people of God:

…an hour is coming and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth…
God is the Spirit and those worshipping Him in spirit and truth must worship…
{John 4:23–24}

I am the Way and the Truth and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through Me
{John 14:6}

for where two or three are gathered together in My name,
there I am in the midst of them
{Matthew 18:20}

If you love Me, keep My commandments.
And I will petition the Father and He will give you another Paraclete
that He abide with you for ever – the Spirit of Truth,
Whom the world cannot receive, because it does not see Him nor know Him.
But you know Him, for with you He abides and in you will be
{John 14:15–17}

if anyone loves Me, he will keep My word, and My Father will love him.
And We will come to him and an abode with him We will make
{John 14:23}

the Paraclete, the Holy Spirit Whom the Father will send in My name,
He will teach you all things, and will remind you of all things that I said to you
{John 14:26}

this is the everlasting life that they may know You, the only One True God,
and Jesus Christ, Whom You have sent…
{John 17:3}

Sanctify them in Your truth, for Your Word is the truth…
And for them I sanctify Myself, that they also might be sanctified in truth…
…that all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I am in You,
that they also may be in Us.
…And I have given them the Glory that You have given Me,
that they may be one, as We are one: I am in them, and You in Me,
that they may be perfected in one…
{John 17:17–23}

you will be baptized in the Holy Spirit…
you will receive power, the Holy Spirit coming upon you,
and you will be witnesses of Me…
to the end of the earth
{Acts 1:5, 8}.

Therefore, as it could be inferred from the words of God, the meaning of the Christian Church is the spiritual unity in God of the believers and followers of Lord Jesus Christ. This spiritual unity is the unity of the spirit of man in God and with God: the perfection of unity in the only One True God Who manifests Himself to His Own ones as the Holy Almighty Trinity:

through God the Son – the Word–God → by God the Holy Spirit, the Paraclete → to God the Father.

The Christian Church comes into being each time when two or three Christians – who are believers in Lord God Jesus Christ, followers of Lord God Jesus Christ, and doers of the words of Lord God Jesus Christ – are gathered together in His Name.

At this moment, the Divine Light {John 1:9; 12:46} ignites within the darkness of the world of the matter and the Church of Christ lives: the soul–heart–mind of a human child of God – a human being who is healed, purified, sanctified and glorified (re–created) by the Word–God, who is illuminated and given life by the Holy Spirit of God, and who is in the presence of God the Creator – is perfected by God into the spiritual unity with the brothers (other children of God) and in God.

At this moment, the comprehension of the Future {eternal life in the presence of GodRevelation 21:1–7, 22–27; 22:1–5, 13–14} opens as the end of the Way {John 14:6} that a human child of God begins here, at the earth, in the temporal world of death.

There is only one Door into this Church, and through her, to God the Father: the Word–God, Lord Jesus Christ {John 10:7–18, 27–30} – He is the Beginning and the End {Revelation 1:8; 21:5–6; 22:13}: the Christian Church is presence of Lord God Jesus Christ and life in Lord God Jesus Christ.

And I think, how beautiful and precious is the freedom of knowledge given by God for those who are set free by the Truth {John 8:31–36}, who see the meaning of things {John 14:26}:

– who of them might ever need the hierarchical establishments – the prisons of the spirit and mind, with instituted perversion, with elaborated rituals of worship to the mortal men who are obsessed with lust for the power and self–aggrandizement until such a degree that they pretend to stand on the place of God and invent such conditions of eternal salvation of men as acceptance of the pope as the “visible head” of the Church of Christ*1*?

– who of them would ever need to confirm existence of the Christian Church through acceptance and unreserved obedience to the “visible heads,” with observation of thrones, elaborated rites of obeisance to men–leaders of the papal establishments, processions, riches and manifest splendor of papal cathedrals, palaces, and castles?

Would any of the children of God ever believe those who

began with demand of submission to the “supreme power” of man over the Christian Church

proceeded with the Crusades, with making the Holy Bible forbidden book,
with extermination of those who kept the words of God (e.g., as Jan Hus*2*)
and waging religious wars and persecutions “in the name of God”

established their power through devising the laws,
which force the papal subjects to believe in uttering of men
who present themselves as the earthly substitutes of God
and defy God until such a degree that
they disregarded the Holy Communion established by God
and made the Chalice with the Life–giving Blood of Jesus Christ
forbidden for their subjects*3*

currently cover themselves with the slogans of “unity in Christ”
and through the ecumenical movement
– the contemporary papal Crusade against Christianity –
attempt to impose the papal power onto the entire Christendom?

The true meaning of Christian Church is the free spiritual union of the children of God who love God and who worship God in spirit and in truth; it never is accessible to those who apply the power of coercion of body, defraud the mind, and use things of the world of the matter for enslaving of men and – contrary to the words of God conveyed by the Holy Gospels – present such actions as the seeking of “the unity in Christ.”

                 *1*  In 1302, the pope Boniface VIII made two statements [The Bull Unam Sanctam, 1302, in: Documents of the Christian Church 127]:

1/  the papal authority is divine

2/ for the sake of eternal salvation it is necessary “for every human creature to be subject to the Roman Pontiff.”

Then, in 1943, the pope Pius XII continued:

1/ primacy of jurisdiction gives the church as “a Mystical Body two heads“

2/ Christ and His Vicar constitute one only Head is the solemn teaching of Our predecessor of immortal memory Boniface VIII in the Apostolic Letter Unam Sanctam” (Christ as invisible head, and the pope – “Vicar of Christ” as the visible head)

3/ it is the dangerous error to believe that it is possible to accept Christ “as the Head of the Church, while not adhering loyally to His Vicar on Earth.” Those who take away the visible head (that is the pope) “can neither see the eternal salvation nor find it” [Pius XII. Mystici Corporis Christi. Encyclical of Pope Pius XII On The Mystical Body of Christ. §40–41; also ref. and qtd. in: Church, Papacy, and Schism: A Theological Enquiry by Philip Sherrard. London: SPCK, 1978. 60].

It means that eternal salvation of men had been separated from the acceptance of Lord Jesus Christ as the Savior and God, from fulfillment of the God’s commandments, and from the mercy of God. The popes asserted themselves as the unavoidable supplements to God, as a new deity, perhaps even more authoritative than God Himself, because faith and loyalty to God are sufficient no more: the absolute submission and “loyalty” to the pope became the conditions of eternal life. With such dethronement of God, idolization of the pope is logically complete.

The Misconception

…their heart is ashes, and they err, and no one is able to deliver his soul:

see, you will not say, a lie is in my right hand.…

{Isaiah 44:20}

Isaiah the Prophet speaks of idol–makers {Isaiah 44:14–20}: they cut the pine tree from the forest that God planted and upon which He rained. They take wood, and a part of it they burn to warm themselves and to bake loaves; from the rest, they make their gods and worship them. They have no understanding to perceive, for they have been blinded, so they should neither see by their eyes nor perceive by their heart. Their heart is ashes, and they err, and none is able to deliver his soul, and to recognize that they hold a lie.

Any healthy and sound human mind would come to conclusion that to make wooden statue and worship it awaiting deliverance and assistance is irrational and foolishness of delusional mind: it is misconception.

However, the idol–making and idol–worship became the favorite activities of many. The idol–makers are numerous; they might be found everywhere and their products are habitually consumed by individuals, groups, and entire nations.

Today, those who worship visible idols (e.g., statutes, objects, planets) are the minority. Those who worship the invisible idols and their visible embodiments are countless, as the invisible idols are countless. The invisible idols are ideologies, false religions, cults, ideas, doctrines, etc. Although they are invisible (for instance, who can see an idea or a philosophical doctrine until they materialize into spoken or written words, books, political organization, empire, etc.?), their embodiments – deified men (rulers, leaders, “universal teachers/shepherds”) and their establishments (states, religious and political organizations) generated by fruitful human imagination and built by industrious human hands, multiply and advance.

In general, everyone knows that idol–worship is misconception, delusion, false belief, erroneous judgment: idols are figments of human imagination, and they have as much power over men as much power men ascribe to them. Therefore, as any lie, idol–worship exists only because of slavery – slavery of ignorance and sin. As any of lies, idol–worship leads to death, because the father of lies was the murderer from the beginning and there is no truth in him {John 8:44}.

For instance, the history of the Phoenician civilization, the offspring of Noah’s grandson cursed for the sin of his father {Genesis 9:24–25}, reveals that the curse of slavery manifests itself through idol–worship*1*. The Phoenicians burned their first–born children and prostituted their daughters as the sacrifice to the idols. Moreover, they carried these practices and underlying beliefs through all the lands and nations in which they spread from their mother–cities: they burned and corrupted own children, because their mind was enslaved by false beliefs. What then, made the Phoenicians to believe that death of a child can bring for the people salvation and prosperity – or whatever else is desirable?

Although the practice of human sacrifice still lives in the remote lands and in secret societies, some part of world population came to the conclusion that the Phoenician religion is a misconception. Because of the tragic misconception, the idols gained such a power over men, that the parents sacrificed (threw into fire) own children.

What then, are the roots and the nature of misconception?

As soon as misconception is the false believe, erroneous judgment, or delusion, the nature of misconception might be explained only by the special condition of human mind. To be able of misconception, the mind must lose the ability to discern the good and the evil that is to become unable to perceive the essence of things. Consequently, the mind loses the power of logical reasoning: it accepts as the truth whatever the others' imagination can offer, including false gods/idols, erroneous judgments, and other lies.

Consequently, the nature of misconception might be explained as the failure of reasoning and loss of freedom of thinking, which is based on inability to discern the good and the evil (that is, firstly, truth and lies) and which results in spiritual slavery. The road into spiritual slavery is open for the heart–mind without steadfast faith in God, without unwavering conscience, without true knowledge of God, and without love to God. Ignorance and deprivation of true knowledge of God are two necessary conditions for enslaving the mind. Spiritual slavery begins

- either
with rejection of the words of God
for those who have no steadfast unwavering faith and faithful heart filled with love to God

- or
with impaired judgment of the mind deprived of true knowledge of God.

Two groups of human minds make spiritual slaves

1/ the apostates who knowingly and deliberately reject God and accept idols

2/ ignorant and deceived who are deprived of the knowledge of truth and therefore, accept as the truth any assertion that has appearance of truth.

In general, spiritual slavery is

acceptance of the opinions of the others and their judgments as the truth

silencing of own conscience and rejection of own reasoning and judgment

unreserved submission to the will of the others.

Equally, in those who initially had at least some knowledge of God and in those who initially had no knowledge of God, misconception allows substitution of lies for truth, false assumption for knowledge, and the evil for the good; ultimately, spiritual slavery takes the place of spiritual freedom, yet, the first stage is misconception – impaired judgment of the mind deprived of knowledge of God and love to God.

For a human being, spiritual slavery is sin, because a human being in a state of spiritual slavery has to forfeit the most precious gift of God – own judgment as the foundation of own reasoning, therefore, as the actualization of own personality. Spiritual slavery is always de–individualization incompatible with the human nature, denigration of man, and transformation of a free human being into a part of the herd of “social animals” and property of those with the access to the power of coercion. Spiritual slavery is the perversion of the human nature and, therefore, sin before God*1*, because

1/ slavery not only deprives of freedom of choice and freedom of actions necessary for achievement of the purposes, which a human being has been created to achieve; slavery is perversion of human nature. A human being is created in image and after likeness of free Almighty Omnipotent God the Spirit, and where is the Spirit of God there is freedom {Genesis 1:26–27; John 4:24; 2 Corinthians 3:17}. It means that spiritual slavery is possible only if the mind rejects God and if the idol – man, doctrine, religion, etc. – takes the place of God in human heart

2/ slavery is death of reason, therefore, inabilities to perceive and to comprehend the words of God, to find God, and to come to God, so sin would be forgiven, the heart–mind healed and given wisdom, firstly, as ability to discern the good and the evil {our God is God of knowledge Who gives wisdom; from His presence, knowledge and understanding come – 1 Kings 2:3; Proverbs 2:6}.

The nature of misconception is separation from God; the mind, which rejects God or which is deprived of the knowledge of God, accepts lies as truth, delusion and perplexity as enlightenment, and slavery as freedom.

Misconception is a foundation of sin, because if the mind lives by false assumptions, it becomes incapable of keeping the words of God and therefore, unable to accomplish the purposes, which it was created to accomplish.

What then, might protect the mind from misconception and sin, especially from the deadly disease of idol–worship?

The answer is in the Holy Scriptures: Εν τη καρδια μου εκρυψα τα λογια Σου, οπως αν μη αμαρτω Σοι   – in my heart, I have hidden Thy words, so I might not sin against Thee {Psalm 118:11}.

The words of God accepted by the human heart–mind as the Absolute truth and hidden within the heart–mind protect man from misconception, therefore, from spiritual slavery, therefore, from sin.

Then, God tells His followers that if they stay in His Word, they are truly His disciples, and they will know the truth, and the truth will set them free, because everyone who practices sin, is a slave of sin. Only if the Son – the Word–God – sets them free, they will be free indeed {John 8:31–36}.

The words of God purify the heart–mind and protect it from sin, because the Word–God gives knowledge of truth. For instance, if the mind knows its Creator, it rejects idols along with those who propagate idol–worship; the knowledge of truth defends the mind from those who attempt to enslave it through misconception.

We are born by the Word of truth, to be the first–fruit of His creatures. Thus, we should receive the implanted Word that saves the soul; we should be the doers of the Word, those who look into the Word as into the mirror and stay in the perfect Law of freedom {James 2:21–25}.

There is a simple recipe for the beginners, for those who wish to learn how to avoid misconceptions and to stay in truth – in the Word–God: read the Gospels, think, and apply the words of God toward own daily life. With each word of God, the mind comes closer to the understanding of truth. Ultimately, the ability to discern the good and the evil will evolve and bring the clarity of perception and understanding, with which misconception is not possible….

            *1* Sin is a violation of the law of God; it is failure to achieve the purposes, inability to accomplish the mission of man, firstly, inability to create the good that is to fulfill the Law/will of God. Sin is anomaly – abnormality of human behavior issuing from perversion of the human nature and, therefore, violation of the Law of God.

            In Greek,  sin is αμαρτια – inability to get something needed or desirable or proper, missing the mark; anomaly is ανομια  – lawlessness, iniquity, illegality, wickedness.

 The Greatest Gift

…Ask, and it will be given to you.…

…Then, if you being evil know to give good gifts to your children,

how much more the Father of Heaven will give the Holy Spirit

to those asking Him…

{Luke 11:9, 13}

St. Luke the Evangelist conveys the instructions of God:

Ask and it will be given to you.

Seek, and you will find;

knock, and it will be opened to you.

For everyone asking receives

And the one seeking finds

And to the one knocking it will be opened

{Luke 11:9–10}.

Although these words of God, seemingly, carry the promise of giving and fulfillment of the desirable, how many Christians who wanted to live in peace and prosperity were murdered for their faith, how many hungry and thirsty ones died without receiving any assistance, how many people knock daily in closed doors in search of job, bread, shelter, or other assistance, and no one opens, no one helps, no one saves, no one lets in. Have not all of them asked God for deliverance and help in their bodily needs?

So, what then, is the subject of the promised something that the people would ask and seek with expectations to receive and to find, and where is the door in which they would knock and it will be opened for them?

The answer is in the Holy Scriptures {Luke 11:11–13}, in the words of God:

And what father of you, if the son asks for bread, will he give him a stone?

And if a fish, will he give him a snake instead of fish?

And if he should ask an egg, will he give him a scorpion?

Then, if you being evil know to give good gifts to your children,

how much more the Father of Heaven will give the Holy Spirit to those asking Him?

The referred above words of God, again, reminds us that we live in two realities – the reality of the visible world of the matter, the world of body/flesh and physical needs, and the reality of the invisible spirit, the eternal indestructible energy that creates, sustains, and destroys the matter. Every newborn enters naked into the world of the matter, and every one leaving the world of the matter takes nothing out of it when he dies. Whatever earthly possessions, riches, needs, joys, pleasures, pains, and all other attributes of daily existence were accumulated, lost, accessible, needed, experienced, suffered, or discarded – nothing is taken out. Only the invisible essence of man – the human soul/spirit – leaves this world and returns to God Who gave it.

So, what then, among all possessions of this world is worthy of asking, if eventually, everything will be left? From another side, what are the properties of the human spirit, which might be left unrecognized and unfulfilled in the world that was created, exists, and will be destroyed as the matter? What is this treasure that man should collect in the Heaven, with which his heart will be?

God tells that all the nations of the world seek the things that fulfill the bodily needs. Yet, His followers should seek the kingdom of God; whatever is needed to accomplish the earthly tasks will be given. The treasure of man should be collected in heaven, for where the treasure is, there the heart will be. This treasure is not the earthly riches: these possessions should be sold and the alms (the deeds of charity and compassion) given. Those who follow God and know Him as the Father, should stop being afraid, for the Father was pleased to give them the kingdom {Luke 12:29–34}.

 So, what is the treasure that should be sought after by all means, even for the price of all earthly possessions: what is the treasure that defines the eternal destiny of a human being?

Our God is the Spirit – the Holy, Almighty, Omnipotent, Absolute Good, Who created the world in which His human children have to find Him, to recognize His presence in them, to identify His Law/will behind everything that happens with them, and to learn how to accomplish His will. The Holy Spirit of God is the greatest treasure of man, and the greatest gift – the gift of life, freedom, and spiritual omnipotence, which a human child of God receives from the Father. The Holy Spirit of God comes to the followers of Lord Jesus Christ, the Word–God, according to His promise, and because of faith in Jesus Christ the Son of God and observance of His commandments. His first gifts mentioned by Lord God Jesus Christ are His eternal presence within man (who by receiving the Holy Spirit of God becomes the immortal one) and wisdom, because He teaches man the knowledge of God and enables man to comprehend the words of God (this knowledge is also the eternal life) {John 4:24; 14:15–18, 26; 17:3, 6–8, 25–26}.

Therefore, the greatest gift of God, which the child of God receives from God the Father, is the Holy Spirit, the Paraclete; with Him, wisdom and eternal life come: He prepares for the eternity with God the Father.

Lord God Jesus Christ defined the condition of obtaining the greatest treasure of man, the condition, which enables man to accept the greatest gift of God the Father to His human children, the condition of coming and presence of the Holy Spirit of God. This condition is love to God, which is proved by keeping the Word and observing the commandments of God: to love God and to love each other as God loves {John 13:34–35; 14:15–18, 23–26; 1 John 3:14–17; 4:7–21}.

 And I think how intertwined are the two seemingly incompatible realities of human existence – the reality of temporal dissipating matter, and the eternal kingdom of God, the realm of the Holy Spirit, if by the deeds of flesh {e.g., James 2:14–26; 1 John 2:3–6; 3:10–17; 1 Corinthians 3:11–17} human beings enter the spiritual immortality…

Who then, are we, human beings – the vessels of the Holy Spirit and the temples of the Living God – so fragile as the creatures of flesh and so invincible as the children of God?

Thousands of years ago, David the King asked this question {Psalm 143(144):3–4}, yet, the answer is only in the Future {1 John 3:1–2}, after departure from this world and returning home, to our Father {John 14:1–3}.

Until then, the only Way is known {John 14:6} – faith and fulfillment of the commandments of God, so the Greatest Gift of God will come…

The Search of the One

…Run about in the streets of Jerusalem,

and see, and know, and seek in her broad places,

if you can find, if there is one that does judgment,

and seeks faithfulness;

and I will pardon them, says the Lord.…

{Jeremiah 5:1}

If there is one who does judgment and seek faithfulness, for his sake, the entire city would be spared of destruction, which is waiting to fall on the inhabitants. The inhabitants of the city are sinners: they worship idols, commit adultery, pursue corruption, purchase favorable judgment, deceive and abuse their brethren, and especially orphans, widows, helpless and poor people. The picture of the corrupted city is complete with the reference to the shocking and horrible deeds committed on the land, to the prophets who prophesy lies, to the priests who welcome that, and to the people who love all that {Jeremiah 5:1–31}.

So, what could be done amidst of all this?

Nothing could be done: in vain Jeremiah the Prophet tried to warn the people that great destruction is coming, and the destiny of the transgressors is defeat, shame, slavery, suffering, and insufficiency of all kinds.

From the history it is known that Jeremiah’s warnings were discarded, Jerusalem and the Temple were plundered and destroyed, people captured and taken into Babylon. It was the time of fulfillment of Moses’ prophecy: the chosen people of God did not serve God with gladness and a good heart, in prosperity and joy, so, they were given their enemies to taste servitude in hunger, thirst, nakedness, and in want of all things {Deuteronomy 28:47–48}.

If to reconstruct life of the ancient society according to Jeremiah’s description, it might be concluded that before the Babylon captivity, social, political, and religious life–sustaining institutions collapsed.

The health of a society is measured by faith in God and by effectiveness of life–maintaining and protective institutions, which should secure justice, prosperity, equality in access to education, information, and public services, and all that constitutes life in dignity for all members of the society.

In general, conditions of three layers convey information that might lead to conclusion concerning the Present (development–evolution or degeneration, therefore, preparedness for disintegration) and the Future (continuous development or collapse and annihilation) of societies, states, and other human establishments:

1/ underprivileged population (in Jeremiah’s society – orphans, widows, poor people who are deprived of the family, education, knowledge of the law, and other things and settings, which sustain life in dignity and prosperity)

2/ those responsible for maintenance of the law, order, and management of the society/state (in Jeremiah’s society –the “rich” men who must know the way of God, keep His Law, and act justly, the king who discards the law and is not able to evaluate threats to his kingdom, the king’s courtiers, who contribute to king’s bewilderment, etc.)

3/ those responsible for maintenance of the overall health of the society – morals, morality, ethics, and disseminating information and knowledge (in Jeremiah’s society – prophets and priests who must convey knowledge of God and His Law, and serve as exemplar/standard of righteous life).

As much as it might be inferred from the Jeremiah’s description, conditions of all three layers confirm collapse of life–maintaining institutions:

there is no knowledge of truth in those who should guard the overall health of the society

there is no knowledge of the law, dignity, and virtue in those who run the society;
they do not possess wisdom and reasoning necessary for protection of the people
and survival of the city

there is no assistance to and justice for the underprivileged.

            The people worship idols, discard truth, and live by fantasies of the false prophets who predict prosperity and victory, while the total destruction is coming; the sound reasoning and judgment left them, because they sinned before God {Book of Jeremiah}.

Solomon the King was able to find one man of a thousand {Ecclesiastes 7:28}. During four centuries (after the Solomon’s reign was over, in 931 B.C.) idol–worship and corruption crawled through all strata of the society. Eventually, in Jeremiah’s time, the righteous and just man could not be found, because the city was not spared: it ripened for annihilation and met its fate in 568 B.C.

The children of those who survived Babylonian captivity turned to God, rebuilt Jerusalem and the Second Temple. Then, idol–worship and corruption again became the choice of many, and especially, those at the highest levels of the society. The last prophet before coming of the Messiah speaks of hypocrisy of priests, who corrupted the priestly covenant: kept not the ways of the Lord, became partial in the law, and made many to fail the law {Malachi 2:1–9}.

Although this time, people followed the rituals and rites, and kept appearance of the law–abiding society: hypocrisy and lies became the manner of daily life. The corruption of priests culminated in inability to recognize the Messiah and God in Lord Jesus Christ {Matthew 23:1–38; John 1:9–11; 19:12–15}.

This time, the pattern of collapse has changed: manifest observance of the law and following the rituals covered inner corruption, ignorance of the Law of God, and corrosion of faith. Yet, only faith opens the road to God: Lord God Jesus Christ asked – the Son of man coming, will He find faith on the earth {Luke 18:8; man is earth – Genesis 3:20}.

Therefore, as it might be inferred from the Gospels, hypocrisy, which covers inner corruption of faith, is the greater sin that open idol–worship, because hypocrisy consists of cunning and false assumptions concerning God, deceit and manipulating the others. Indeed, this time, destruction was complete, as God told {Luke 21:5–24}. Eventually, the chosen people were scattered over all provinces of the Roman Empire and then, barred from entrance in Jerusalem (see The Rejected Knowledge, Folder 2011, posting for May 22, 2011)…

And I think how many cities today would be spared if the ancient reality comes to life again, and the righteousness of the inhabitants is the main condition of survival: do the contemporary societies differ, for instance, from the ancient Jerusalem before the Babylonian captivity?

For example, from the daily news, it might be inferred that the life–maintaining institutions, staring with religious and finishing with political establishments, fail:

knowledge of the good and the evil is lost,
because wisdom left along with the faith in God

virtue and righteousness are empty words,
because faith is lost, the neo–heathenism and atheism continue to expand,
sin and corruption became the manner of existence
and the essence of daily life of some

dreams of the evil imagination, phantasms, and deceit
took the place of truth and knowledge of the actuality

the channels of information distribute the patterns of evil and corruption;
they are jammed with descriptions of evil, crimes, and perversion,
which become typical attributes of the societies
and influence perception and customary behavior of people

analysts, researchers, scientists, who assumed the role of prophets,
err in their predictions; they could not prevent
current crises and man–made catastrophes

priests, as well as those who should convey knowledge of God,
have transformed themselves into politicians;
some of them spread sin and corruption instead of knowledge of God.

If so, who, then, can protect the people from the coming great destruction, which is the inseparable companion of corruption, perversion, and corrosion of faith?

The writings of the ancient prophets and history reveal one more aspect of human life: the value of righteousness and true judgment. If for the sake of one righteous and faithful man the entire society of sinners would be spared, where are those on whom the true expectations could rest today?

There is none for the unbelievers.

For the Christians there is a hope – Lord God Jesus Christ – the only One Protector and Savior and Good Shepherd, Who laid down His soul for salvation of men {John 10:11–18; 15:12–14}.

The Unknown Path

…And I will bring the blind by a way that they knew not,

and I will cause them to thread the paths, which they have not known:

I will turn darkness into light for them,

and crooked things into straight.…

{Isaiah 42:16}

The spiritual darkness (blindness) and then, awakening of an ability of perception, or coming to the light, is probably, the most precise description of the one who, initially, was deprived of knowledge of truth, and then, came to understanding.

The mind that is deprived of knowledge of truth spends life–time in the state of ignorance, perplexity, bewilderment, and self–deceit of imagination, in constant participation, and never in the actuality. The world of such a mind is similar to the inferno of the Phoenicians, who imagined that after death of a body, the soul of man enters the realm of blinding fog ruled by the cruel goddess indifferent to the prayers of the doomed: the soul has to wander alone, without purpose and without expectation of mercy, helpless and unable of finding the path into the world of light.

The promise of God to turn darkness into light and to put the blind on the paths, which they have not known, became the turning point in the history of mankind. The Gospel According to John tells the story of the Light that shines in darkness and leads to the kingdom of God: only omnipotence of Almighty God undid the power of evil that kept man in the prison of ignorance, corruption, and death. Men by themselves, by their own powers, have failed to find the path out of the realm of darkness and death; they finished with bestialization and corruption inseparable from idol–worship, which transforms humans into the beasts; all their efforts and endeavors were crowned with despair and suffering. Even those who were given the knowledge of the Law of God failed; especially, the Pharisees, the learned leaders of Israel, who became hypocrites, the evil and adulterous generation, the devoid of reason “blind guides,” to whom God refers as to “Serpents! Offspring of vipers!” {Matthew 12:34–42; 15:12–14; 16:1–4, 12; 23:1–35; John 8:42–45; 9:39–41}.

The deliverance of man begins through faith and with the words of God: the mind must be transformed into receptacle of Light with Whom wisdom and understanding come, and then, the unknown path leading to God opens.

With creation of eyes of the man who was born blind {John 9:1–41}, people received the lesson: how God intends to act {John 9:3–4}, and how the miracle of salvation begins. The Word–God creates “the eyes” of the human soul – transforms the human essence and enables man to perceive and to comprehend the message of God. With these “eyes” – τὸν ἔμφυτον λόγον , the imprinted Word {James 1:21}, the soul–heart–mind receives the absolute standard of the good and the ability of discernment between the good and the evil, between the truth and the lies: it recognizes presence of God and follows Him with love, reverence, and faith.

Then, through the faith and observance of the commandments of Lord God Jesus Christ, His followers–believers (the sheep) begin to claim the unknown before path to God, to His eternal kingdom {John 10:1–16, 27–30; 14:1–6, 21–23}.

And I think: what makes the unknown path the straightway, how within the perceivable tangible corporeal material world to discern the life of the spirit, how to find eternal God the Spirit if everything around is just a dissipating matter, created to be consumed and destroyed? How to develop the ability to see behind the surfaces and appearances, how to evolve into the immortal child of God within the world, which lives and thinks only by the categories of the matter? What is this unknown path that everyone who wants to live must find by his own hard labor and through his own faith?

In the end of my life, I would have more questions than answers if not knowledge of God and the steadfast and stubborn faith – the most precious legacy of my Ancestors. Faith and knowledge of God are needed if the unknown path is to become known as the straightway is.

Faith leads to God; the Holy Scriptures convey the words of God – they transform the mind and prepare for the life everlasting. The one, who wants to find the unknown path and enter life everlasting, should read the words of God and attempt to fulfill the commandments of God by thoughts, words, and actions.

To begin evolution, which is completed when a human being becomes the human child of God, the one needs only faith in Lord God Jesus Christ and His words – the words of everlasting life {John 1:12–13; 6:68}, not sermons of the contemporary versions of the ancient Pharisees and priests proficient in sin, corruption, and struggle for the political power.

During the earthly life, there is no possibility to see God in the same way as the entire world around is seen and perceived. Only through faith, the presence of God can be recognized; only through fulfillment of the words of God, the unknown path can be found and accomplished…
