The Survival

make me alive according to Thy Word

{Psalm 118(119):25}

Survival is an ability to continue existence – to live or to hold life, and therefore, potency to accomplish purposes, for the sake of which a survivor came into being.

For a normal human being [[who is a temporal life–carrying unityΣ1 of spirit–––flesh, or soul–heart–mind–––body, or energy–––matter, accommodated within the world of the material things]], life is three–dimensional

life of the spirit

life of the mind

↓      ↑

life of a body

Consequently, the one speaking of survival may imply physical (body), mental (reasoning, mindΣ2), and spiritual (soul) survival; these three levels of survival might not coincide:

–– the one could live by a body, but die by the mind because of mental illness/insanity; in this case, accomplishment of the purposes, for the sake of which he came into existence, is not possible

–– the one could live by body, but cast own soul into the eternal spiritual darkness – death as separationΣ3 from God by rejecting God and violating His lawΣ4; in this case, only partial accomplishment of the purposes [[e.g., procreation, material participation in political, social, and other spheres of life]] is possible, and accomplished purposes are connected only with material objects/systems; such survivor is not able to create true knowledge and spiritual good for the others, therefore, he does not contribute to evolution of the reality  – society, nation, state, which accommodates his existence

–– the one could choose to die by body, because of his Christian faith and for his rejection of other religions, but to save his soul for the eternity with God; in this case, his material influence onto the world is discontinued @ the moment of physical death, however, his legacy might influence life of countless generations, as it is, for instance, with the very life and writings of St. Peter and St. Paul the Apostles, who were executed by Roman heathens in A.D. 64(?) and whose life is commemorated on June 29. Still, almost 2000 years later, the legacyΣ5 of St. Peter and St. Paul the Apostles guides the Christians in their daily life and preparation for the eternity with God.

The choice or prioritizing of level of survival reveals the inner essence, inner focus, and destiny of man.

For the Christian, the priority of survival is defined by the words of God {Matthew 10:28, 38–39; 16:24–27}. The one should not be afraid of those who can kill a body: survival of soul–mind is the main priority, and the meaning of survival is not in continuation of life of a body. The Christian’s survival is keeping mental and spiritual sanity: preservation of the healthy–normal–evolving intelligence–reasoning–mind

The Christian survives by faithΣ6, love, and knowledge of God. Through the complete knowledgeΣ7 of God and Lord Jesus Christ the Savoir – the Word–God sent to cast the Divine Fire onto the earth–manΣ8, by the Divine Power of God, the Christian receives everything needed for life, godliness, and immortality. This everything is Love of God – the Almighty Omnipotent Power {John 3:16–17, 35–36; 6:63; 15:9–17; 17} that transforms the creature formed from the dust of the earth into the chosen one – immortal child of God, and the work of this everything within the human mind is initiated with knowledge of God and observance of His law–commandments–words {John 6:63; 14:15–27; 16:7–15; 15:12–19; 17; 1 Peter 1; 2; 2 Peter 1:1–12; 1 John; Romans 6:17–23; 8}.

Hence, survival of a Christian begins with the cognition of God, by operation of the intelligence–reasoning–mind, through which a human being comes to knowledge of the Word–God and, in His NameΣ9, by the grace – mercy and love – of God {John 1:1–5, 16–18; 3:16–21, 35–36; 14:15–17, 25–27; 15:26; 16:7–16; 17}, receives the Holy Spirit Who empowers him [[gives him wisdom]] to embody into his own daily life–reality–κοσμος–universe, which he incessantly builds by his thoughts–words–actions, knowledge of the three–level reality:

knowledge of God

knowledge of own nature

knowledge of the nature of world created to accommodate life and evolution of man

What then, is the key knowledge, which the Christian should have, if he wants to survive and to obtain immortality – the everlasting life in the Kingdom of God?

The key knowledge is the knowledge that

a/ the soul lives by the breath of God: the Spirit of God creates a human soulΣ10, enables the power of reasoning (mind) and sustains its life and development–evolution by giving knowledge and wisdom {Genesis 2:7; Job 32:8; Psalm 103(104):30; 1 Kings 2:2–10; Proverbs 2:6–9; Wisdom 6; 7; 8; 9}

b/ life is presence of the Spirit of God: immortalityΣ11 is the Spirit of God within human soul–heart–mind

c/ survival of the soul–heart–mindΣ12 – the inner manΣ1 – depends on the ability to love God and to serve the will/purposes of God: to observe the commandments–words–law of God, so God would come, make His dwelling with His loving servant transforming him into His child––living temple––chosen one who is known and loved by God {John; 1 Peter 1; Romans 8:28–39}.

Hence, if the one wants to secure sanity – survival of his mind within the world controlled by the evilΣ13, he has to live in conformity with the law of God, the essence of which is love – love to God and love to the creations of God: that is to live according to the nature created by God, defined by the commandments/words of God, and explained by Lord Jesus Christ, the Word–God, Who came to fulfill the law, and Who said that those who love Him must observe His commandments [[the law]], so that they would be given the Holy Spirit and God would come to dwell with them {Genesis 2:7; 9:6–7; Exodus 20:1–17; 34:10–11; Leviticus 19:16–19; Deuteronomy 28; 30; Psalm 32(33):4–9; 103(104); 118(119); 146(147); Matthew 22:36–40; John 1:1–13; 3:3–6; 4:24; 6:45, 63; 14; 15; 16; 17}.

The summary: the knowledge, which the mind that desires to survive within the world controlled by the evil should obtain, is that

a/ human soul is the breath of God {Genesis 2:7}: without God, there is no life befitting a human being

b/ human soul–heart–mind lives by the Holy Spirit {Psalm 103(104):30; John 3:3–21; 4:23–24; 6:63; 7:37–39; Acts 17:24–28}, and a human body lives by the energy that comes from God and sustains existence of the world {the living creatures accumulate the Divine life–giving energy and transform it into the fruits of the earth, from which man obtains bread, other food, and supplies needed for physical survival –– e.g., Psalm 32(33):4–22; 103(104); Luke 11:11–13}

c/ for a Christian, survival is an ability to live according to the law–commandments–words of God: survival is actualization of the fundamental code of life –– the unity of the LAW, the ENERGY, and the POWER:

The one who lives by the LAW of God –– by commandments–words of the Word–God, Λογος, the Almighty Glory and the Omnipotent Power and the Holy Wisdom of God, Who came to fulfill the law and the prophets and to cast the Divine Fire upon the earth –– is empowered to receive the Holy Spirit Who gives him the Divine ENERGY and the POWER to hold it: wisdom to embody it into own life and into the life of the reality–world that the one builds by own existence {Matthew 5:17–18; 19:16–21;  Luke 12:49; John 1:1–18; 4:23–24; 5:39, 46–47; 12:41, 44–50; 14; 15; 16; 17; Deuteronomy 4:24; Hebrew 13: ; Wisdom 6; 7; 8; 9}.

If the one rejects the law, he does not receive from God the energy that sustains life and the power to hold this energy. Such a being without God is a living dead who does not have life within; in other words, his essence [[the inner manΣ1: the soul–heart–mind, spirit–intelligence–reasoning]] has no energy to operate/function according to the nature created by God.

Although each one has his own unique way to God, in general, survival is secured by the synergy of following inseparable activities

keeping, within own heart–mind, the image of God Who empowers the intelligence–reasoning–mind to live

{Genesis 1:26–27; 9:6; James 1:18–25}

looking into the image of God revealed by Lord Jesus Christ, the Word–God, as into the mirror,

so the mind would be transformed into the adequate reflection of the Glory of God

by learning to imitate the virtues of Lord Jesus Christ

and therefore, to accomplish His commandments:

to be perfect and merciful as God is perfect and merciful, and to love the others as God loves

{Matthew 5:38–48; 22:36–40; Luke 6:36–36; John 13:34–35; 15:12, 17; James 1:22–25; 2 Corinthians 3:16–18}

constant watchfulness, prayer, and focusing on God,

 so the evil would not penetrate the mind’s reasoning–thinkingΣ14

{Matthew 22:37–38; Luke 18:1–8; Ephesians 6:10–18; Colossians 4:2}

rejection of any evil thought, which, if rooted, may bring forth evil words and deeds

{1 Peter 2; 1 John 3:1–12}

The Christian’s mind looks into knowledge of God as into the mirror to comprehend the law by which it lives – the perfect law of freedomΣ15. In knowledge of God, man seeks understanding {Isaiah 26:8–13} of own nature, own place within the world, own purposes, and own future. Knowledge of God protects the mind from false knowledge, lies, and myths of idolatryΣ16: the lethal knowledge of idol–worshipers, to which Moses in his final day {Deuteronomy 31:14–29; 32:1–44} referred to as to the vine of Sodom producing the wine that carries the rage of serpents and incurable rage of asps {θυμος δρακοντων ο οινος αυτων, και θυμος ασπιδων ανιατος – Deuteronomy 32:32–33}.

The Christian’s mind that desires to survive and to evolveΣ17 for the next phase of existence has

to protect own nature, individuality, and freedom of thinking

by constant focusing on God in Whose image it was created

by remembering that where the Spirit of God is the freedom is

{2 Corinthians 3:17; Galatians 5:13},

and by rejecting false and strange knowledge of the heathensΣ18,

which is the lethal poison consumed by the mind of those

who either reject or are not given true knowledge of only One True God

to learn to live by each word of God,

firstly by comparing words and deeds [[own and of the others]]

with the commandments/words of God,

and therefore discerningΣ19 their true essence

to prove own maturity and preparedness for life in the presence of God the Creator

by doing the works of God – the works of good, love, and mercy for the othersΣ20

to be empowered to accept wisdom and immortality given by the Holy Spirit

Who comes in the name of the Word–God – Lord Jesus Christ

{John 14:16–17, 26; 16:7–16; 17}

From the practical point of view, Christian’s survival is synergism of the primary inborn abilities of the mind created in image of God and likeness: the mind that knows God and loves Him as a child loves his Father. These are the abilities

a/ to live according to the nature defined by the law of God: to arrange own life [[thinking → speaking → doing]] according to the Word–God, by imitating love, mercy, and perfection of God {Matthew 5:48; 22:36–40; Luke 6:35–36; John 13:33–34; 15:12–17; Wisdom 7:7–23}

b/ to preserve the steadfast faith – to remain loyal to God by strict observance of the first, second, and third of The Ten Commandments, to sanctify God in own heart–mind, and to focus on Him – remain in Him as He tells {Exodus 20:1–7; Deuteronomy 5:6–11; 32:3–7; Psalm 80(81); Isaiah 8:13–16; John 15:4; 1 Peter 3:15–16; Hebrews 2:10–18} whatever the surrounding world is and whatever difficulties and obstacles for the normal life it fosters

c/ to receive from God the knowledge that is the everlasting life, and to embody this knowledge of the Absolute Truth into own thoughts, words, and deeds {John 1:1–18; 6; 8; 10; 12:44–50; 13; 14; 15; 16; 17

d/ to create adequate knowledge of the world, which accommodates the mind’s existence; such knowledge is based upon

            ––   the Absolute Truth revealed by Lord Jesus Christ, the Word–God {John 14:6, 17; 16:13–15; 17:3}

            ––  the complete knowledge of God – the knowledge with which the one receives everything needed for life and godliness as St. Peter the Apostle writes {2 Peter 1:2–11}

e/ to prove faith and love to God by observing His commandments and doing the works of good, mercy, and love {John 14; 15; 16; James 2:14–26; 1 John 3; 4:7–21; 5}.

In conclusion, the one could infer that observance of the law of God is synonym of survival: only the mind that lives by the law of God and embodies it into own thoughts and creations, which it may communicate/offer to the others, is empowered to survive and to evolve for the eternity in the presence of God {cf. in: Matthew 19:16–19; Revelation 21:1–8; 22:1–15}.

And I think that survival of the Christian’s mind, through which the Divine energy descends to the daily reality of men, is also maintenance→→survival of the reality that accommodates existence of men: mankind’s world–universe. So, it is not a coincidence that today, one of the days left until the already irreversible collapse of our world is complete {Matthew 24; Mark 13; Luke 21:5–36; 2 Peter 1:13}, persecutions and genocide of the Christians are the daily realityΣ21 of many lands and nations. With death of each Christian, the netΣ22 of the minds, which serve God and therefore, receive from Him the power and energy to maintain life of the world, diminishes [[in other words, the murderers blinded by the arch–evil and their leaders, who are rushing into the pit of annihilation, by their own hands, accelerate their own end; besides, after physical death, the Christians go to God, in His eternal kingdom prepared for them before the beginning of times {1 Peter 1}; to where the murderers shall go?]]

The reduction of the net of life–sustaining centers accelerates already irreversible processes of collapse–disintegration of the world and reduces the remnants of time left until its καιροςΣ23 is complete and the Judgment Day comes.

Until then, until this day that is known only by God the Father {Matthew 24:34–44} comes, each moment of life is mercy of God {2 Peter 3:8–10}.

Until then, until the last breath, the greatest gifts of God and the pledge of one’s survival and immortality in the kingdom of God are

–– the authority to surviveΣ24 by discerning the true essence of words and deeds of the others

–– the ability to discern the seeds of the evil within own mind and to cast them out.

Lord Jesus Christ our Lord God and Savior said that only through Him the one comes to God the Father {John 6:44–47; 14:6}. Hence, survival, evolution, obtaining immortality for the eternity with God – all this Christian receives only through Lord God Jesus Christ, and all this may be given to everyone who asks {Matthew 7:7–11; Luke 11:9–13}.

Within the disintegrating collapsing world of insanity and inhumanity, which is run by the arch–evil {Luke 4:5-8; John 14:30; 16:1; 18:36}, what then, the one could ever ask God but

give me lifeΣ25 according to Thy Word

{Psalm 118(119):25}

Σ9 The Word–God – Λογος {John 1:1–4} is the name with which the human mind identifies the Eternal Law, Wisdom, and Glory of God: the manifestation of the Omnipotent Creative Power that creates by the Divine Energy and according to the Divine Law/Will of God. The Holy Scriptures {Genesis 1:1–31; Exodus 33:11–22; 34:5–10;  34:10–11; Psalm 67(68); 106(107):20; 118(119):25; 147:16–19; 148; Isaiah 26:8–9; Matthew 8:5–13; Luke 3:21–22; 7:2–15; John 1:1–18; 4:32–34; 5:30, 37–47;  6:28–69; 8:25; 10:15–18; 30; 11:25–26; 14:16–17, 26–28; 15:26; 16:13–16, 28; 17; 1 John 5:1–11; Wisdom} describe the way how the will of God the Creator, Who revealed Himself as only One True God, the Holy Trinity – indivisible and uncognizable One God, is accomplished:

God the Father sends His Word – His Son, the Word–God

the Word–God accomplishes the will of God the Father

the Word–God returns back to the God the Father Who sent Him

The Word–God has in Himself the Life that He bestows on the living dead [[the living dead, the withered branch, or the human beast is the one who has no knowledge of God]] who then, come to life {Matthew 10:6–8; 18:11–14; John 5:24–30; 15:5–6; 17:2–3; Jude 3–19}.

The living dead {Matthew 10:5–8; 2 Peter 2:1–22; Jude 19} is the one who

either was not given a chance to learn the true knowledge of God {Matthew 10:7–8}

or was offered, yet, rejected the true knowledge of God {2 Peter 2}

Such beings carry death within them, because they live by spreading evil. Willingly (because of corruption) or unwillingly (because of ignorance), they deceive, enslave, corrupt, and murder (spiritually or physically) the living ones.

The one comes to life – is resurrected from the living dead and, through faith and love to Lord Jesus Christ, the Word–God, becomes a child of God – by the Divine Omnipotent Love, the Almighty Power of God, to which Lord Jesus Christ refers as to His Soul, as to His Blood, and as to His Body – the Divine Bread from the Heaven, and as the Light to the world. Because of this Love–Power–Will of God, he becomes a child of God born of God. If he completes his earthly life in steadfast faith and according to the law that is with love to God and love to the others, he obtains immortality and life everlasting in the presence of God through the eternity {John 1:1–18; 10:15–18, 27–30; 14; 15; 16; 17; James 1:18–25; 1 Peter 1; 1 John 1:1–3; 3:1–24; 5:1–12; Ephesians 2:2–10; Colossians; Revelation 21:1–7, 24; 22:1–5}.

The mind receives the complete knowledge of God only through the knowledge of God revealed by Lord Jesus Christ and because of observance of His commandments–words – the law of God {John 14:15–17; 17; 2 Peter 1:2–11}.

The House of Prayer

…My house is a house of prayer,

but you made it a den of robbers…

{Luke 19:46}

It happened in the last days before the crucifixion: Lord Jesus Christ entered Jerusalem’s temple and drove out the merchants, money traders, and their customers – all those who dared to conduct business affairs in the temple of God: His house is a house of prayer, not the den of robbersΣ1. This event is the only one in the Gospels when Almighty God acted with the physical force, at the level perceivable and understandable by all human beings: He overturned trading tables and seats and drove away their owners. Then He healed the blind and the lame that came to Him in the temple. The children in the temple praised the Lord, yet, chief priests and scribes sought to destroy Him, because they heard His words, observed His actions, and were afraid of His influence on the people {Matthew 21:12–16; Mark 11:15–18; Luke 19:45–48}.

After Solomon the son of David and king in Jerusalem built the first temple, God promised that He would hear the prayers those who come to seek His face and to ask for His forgiveness, that He would be merciful to their sin and He would heal the earth [[earth – γη – is also a reference to a human being {Genesis 3:20}]], which is suffering for the transgressions of man. So the temple of God was intended to be the place where the people would come to pray and worship God, and where God would hear the prayers of His creations, heal the sick, and console the afflicted ones {2 Chronicles 2:3–5; 6:18–42; 7:12–22}.

Hence, the temple of God became the holiest place of the holy city of Jerusalem, which supposed to be attended by those who worship true God, the place where the name of God is called. It was the place of healing and purification of people, the place where the mercy of God to His people was actualized, and not the place for earthly business, deceit, stealing and idol–worship {Jeremiah 7:9–11}.

After Solomon’s apostasyΣ2, the long line of kings–apostates gradually corrupted the ancient state of Israel and fashioned it after other nations – making it similar to the idol–worshiping neighborsΣ3. However, wickedness and lawlessness of the rulers was not the only plague of the chosen nation: the process of corruption and conversion into idol–worshipers was led by false prophets, priests who broke the covenant of the tribe of Levi with God, and the elders secretly worshipping the idols {Leviticus 21:6; Numbers18:1–7, 20; Isaiah 1; 2:6–8; Ezekiel 8; 13; 43:8–9; 44:10–14, 23; 4; Hosea 5:1–7; Malachi 2:1–9}.

The ultimate transformation of the temple of God into the trading place similar to heathen establishments exposed the deepest corruption of the priests and scribes who received some remuneration from the business conducted in the temple, while they were expected to observe and to protect the holiness of the temple of God and to instruct His people in the matters concerning the Law. For the complete comprehension of the gravity of this event, it should be taken into consideration that the practice of temple trade was well known distinctive feature of the idol–worshiping nations. For instance, the heathen priests collected money paid to the temple prostitutes, while, for the chosen nation, even bringing to the temple the moneys polluted by human vice {the hire of a harlot and the price of a κυνοςΣ4Deuteronomy 23:18} was forbidden because it is an abomination to God.

With the instructions and warning given by Moses concerning the lawΣ5 of God {Deuteronomy; esp. 28; 30}, every normal reasonable mindΣ6 endowed with the faculty of deliberation is capable to infer that everything not consistent with the law/will of God shall be destroyed. So, the Jerusalem’s temple, in which the heathenism took place of the true religion based upon the law of the only One True God – the law given through MosesΣ7, was destroyed similarly as it was promised and already happened before {e.g., in: 2 Chronicles 7:19–22; Jeremiah 7:8–15, 20; Lamentations; Daniel 9}. After destruction of the ancient Jerusalem, it were no stones left upon the stones, from which the temple’s building was built {in: Matthew 24:1–2; Mark 13:1–2; Luke 21:5–6}, and on ruins of the temple of God, the heathen Roman “temple” was erected.

In the New Testament times, after Lord God Jesus Christ re–created a human being into the living temple of the Spirit of God {1 Corinthians 3:16; 6:19}; the Christian Church – ΕκκλησιαΣ8 – became the center of the Christian life; it was the holiest place, in which the Holy Gospels are read and where the people receive spiritual healing, comfort, and learn the truth and knowledge of God. The center of the Orthodox Christianity at the Mount of Athos and the Christian Orthodox Churches preserved the apostolic traditions of the ancient Christian Church of prophets, martyrs, and devoted men who did not hesitate to give up the very life for the sake of salvation of the others. During many centuries, the Christian Orthodox monks and priests were the most respected and revered members of the Christian community – the family of the people unified with love: love to God the Creator and Savior and love to each other; they attended and assisted the people in all stages of the journey through the earthly life and preparation for the life everlasting.

The history of the Christian Orthodox Church illustrates the implication (and the results) of the uncompromising conscience sustained by the steadfast, constant, and unpollutedΣ9 by heresies Christian faith; it clarifies

1. the general attitude of the Christians toward the ideologies and parties pursuing the purposes, which contradict the Christian teachings: everything inconsistent with the words of God, opposing the law–commandments–words of God, and by any means misinterpreting the meaning of the teachings of God must be rejected without any hesitation, because, as the Lord said, the one cannot serve two masters {Matthew 6:24; Luke 16:13}.

Hence, as St. Paul the Apostle writes {in: 1 Corinthians 10:20–22; 2 Corinthians 6:14–18}, the one is not able to drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons and to partake of the table of the Lord and of the table of demons, as well as to be in communion with lawlessness: there cannot be partnership of the righteousness with the lawlessness and there cannot be fellowship of the light with darkness. The temple of God is not compatible with the idol–worshiping place. Hence, the Christians have to separate themselves from the idol–worshipers and their uncleanness, if they want to be the children of God

2. the mission of the Christian Church to be the keeper of the precious Christian faithΣ10, which nurtures the free independent thinking {where the Spirit of God is the freedom is – 2 Corinthians 3:17} and sustains the purity of conscience.

Lord Jesus Christ, the Word God – the Truth and the Life and the Light of the world  is the Author/Chief of faith and the One Who completes, makes perfect, consummates faith: in Him are all knowledge, all treasures of wisdom, all fullness of life, all power, and all authority {Matthew 8:5–13; 9:20–22; 14:29–31,36; 17:20; 21:22; Mark 9:23; 11:24–26; Luke 5:20; 8:49–50; 17:6; John 3:16, 36; 9:4–15; 10:14–18, 30; 12:14–50; 14; 15; 16; 17;  1 John 2:20–21, 27; 5:12; 1 Corinthians 13:2, 9–13; 2 Corinthians 5:7; Hebrews 11:1, 32–34; 12:2; Romans 14:23}.

Hence, the nature of the Christian Church defines the difference between the Christian Church and secular establishment, which pretends to be a church: the Christian Church is a keeper of faith living by the Holy Spirit. Thus the Christian Church is focused on the life of soul–heart–mind, the inner manΣ11: through the hearts and minds of the Christians, through their clean conscience based upon steadfast faith and incessant works of love and mercy, the Christian Church influences the world. The Christian Church lives by the Word–God and the Holy Spirit that she receives in His Name: she acts by the Divine Power given by the Holy Spirit, and not through the power of coercion, nor ecumenism – propaganda of unity with the heretics and heathens, nor deceit, nor politics, nor hierarchical establishmentsΣ12.

And I think that now, when the preachers and priests of many denominations do not hesitate to use the authority of their churches for advancement of the interests of political parties, for money solicitation and personal enrichment, for spreading heresy, manipulation by the conscience and brain–washing of their subjects, the time came to recall that a house of God is a house of prayer and that the very meaning of the Christian Church is incompatible with any political struggle, seeking political, commercial, strategic, or any other gains, profits, and early advantages. Any temple of God – if, of course, it is a temple of God and not the cave of idol–worshipers and robbers – should be free from politics, heresies, propaganda, and such direct contradictions to the Christian teachings as submission to the heretics for the sake of physical survival and wealth, and exaltation of a chosen few over the insignificant many.

Now, as it was many times in the remote and not so remote Past, the people, states, nations again and again have to make the choice between good and evil, between life and death of free reason, and between life and death of a body. Mankind lives in the constant state of the uninterrupted war – although the times, the names of ideologies and politicians, and the officially acknowledged reasons of conflicts and wars are different, the essence remains the same:

– robbers and thieves come into the temple to transform the holy house of God into the political arena and the place of deceit, therefore, into the realm of death

– heresies, ideologies, propaganda, and lies supplant the teachings of God and turn the freedom into the slavery.

the worst kind of slaveryΣ13 – ignorance of knowledge of God – becomes the daily life of the many

corruption of all imaginable kinds – in politics, social, cultural, and religious life – usurps place of dignity and virtues

the inability of free unbiased thinking – overwhelms political, social, educational, religious, and other life–maintaining institutions

living no reasonable expectations of survival and improvement of life of the societies and nations

And I think, ultimately, in the end of the road, is there any reason to expect any truth, any good, any positive change, if

            the temples became the dens of robbers

            the words of God, which provide the only foundation for human reason, sustain the right discernmentΣ14, and empower the one to differentiate between the good and the evil, are intentionally misinterpreted, rejected, discarded, forgotten, or simply never learned?

Σ1 In similar fashion, obsession with the worldly affairs is not appropriate for the Christian who is the living temple of the Spirit of God. When God Almighty comes to dwell in the soul, He drives away all the petty attachments, which belong to the dream worlds created by the minds without God: there is no possibility to serve two masters – that is to allow something else besides God to control life of the mind, because that what is highly praised among men might be an abomination before God {Matthew 6:24; Luke 16:13–15}.

Ancient Civilizations: Legacy Overview

Σ4 Concerning κυνος/ες  or κυναριοις {mentioned also in: Mark 7:27; 2 Peter 2:22 (κυων)}: although many interpreters translate it as “dog/dogs,” the precise meaning is “domesticated beast(s).” In the Antiquity, the wild beasts of the fields (cheetahs, tigers, lions, and other animals) were tamed and kept at the courts of rulers as the symbol of the power over the realm of beasts as well as over men; some of them (e.g., cheetahs) were also used in hunting. The compound Greek word κυναριοις contains the roots of words for identification of two kinds of beasts – subdued to man or domesticated (κτ, κυν, or κυ, and wild (ρι; for instance,

–ρι– as in θερια {Genesis 2:19}, θηριαλωτον – referred to by Jacob {Genesis 31:39}, and θεριων {Daniel 4:12}, which denote wild beast of the fields

– κυν– as in κυνων of nomads {Job 30:1}, and –κυ–  as in σκυλος, which means dog.

In summary, κυναριοις (in short, κυνες) is derivative of words used in the Septuagint for definition of living creatures–beasts: κτηνεσι – the animals, which received their names from Adam {Genesis 2:20} or κτηνους referred to by Moses {Exodus 11:7}, that is as contemporary κτηνος “beast” or “brute”, and θερια or  θηριαλωτον {Genesis 2:19; 31:39}. The contemporary κυναιλουρος (cheetah) is also a derivative close to κυναριοις.

Also, the word κυνες/κυνος was used to refer to the male prostitute at the heathen temples; hence, the price of κυνος is mentioned along with the hire of a harlot as forbidden to bring to the temple of God, because both (πορνης και κυνος) are abomination to God {e.g., in: Deuteronomy 23:18}. Male and female prostitution was a part of idol–worship rites in Canaan and other lands populated by the Phoenicians and by those who practiced cults of Dionysus and Orphic–derived cults that included bestiality, sodomy, homosexuality as the rites of idol–worship. Anything connected with harlot or κυνος was considered as unclean, as one of abominations to God, for which the heathen nations had to be removed from the Promised Land.

Σ7 See Note 22 to Archive_Selections_2016 and The Total Ruin reprint (edited; Notes updated) follows

“The Total Ruin

they that submitted themselves to corruption

have been utterly destroyed

{Isaiah 29:20}

The words of God that the people worship Him in vain by teaching the commandments of men {Isaiah 29:13–15; 30:1–2; Mark 7:1–16} describe the actuality of the society taken over and ruled by hypocrites and apostates: the Pharisees and scribes (the learned “elite” in positions of authority at all levels of political and religious hierarchies), Sadducees (administration of the temple), Herodians (royal court and executive power), chief–priests (Sanhedrin, the highest court and council that headed religious and civil authority). Nevertheless, they continue to observe rituals, to conduct public prayers and fasting, to speak of the law of God, to mention inheritance of Abraham and Moses, and to wear traditional clothing in order to maintain the apparent righteousness of the “chosen ones,” while in  fact {in: Matthew 12:24–42; 15:1–20; 16:1–16; 23:1–39; 24:1–22; Mark 7:1–16; 8:11–21; Luke 11:37–54; 16:13–15; 20:45–47; John 7:16–24, 31–49; 8:39–45; 9:39–47; 11:45–53; 12:37–43},

a/ they devised and follow new teachingsΣr1: they do not follow the Law given through Moses – they are the plant that shall be rooted out because it was not planted by God

b/ all their “wisdom,” rituals, and public prayers are abomination to God: they are the sons of the arch–evil, the walking graves embellished at the surface and full of uncleanness and the dead bones within, the adulterous generation, the “offspring of vipers,” the murderers of the prophets and the wise ones; they will not avoid the ruin

c/ they are devoid of reason – “blind leaders of the blind” who lead the people into the pit; the blood of all their victims shall be on them; they will be utterly destroyed.

Through the teachings of Pharisees and Sadducees {in: Matthew 16:5–12; Mark 7:1–16; 8:11–21; Isaiah 29:13–15; 30:1–2; 59:4–10}, the appearances and use of material things took the place of the spiritual loyalty and love to God; consequently, bewilderment, injustice, unrest, and iniquities – and neither the righteousness with peace nor the law of God {in: Isaiah 5:7} – became the actuality. Ultimately, substitution of the doctrines of men for the law of God has brought the ancient kingdom to its διαφθορωνΣr2 – collapse and complete ruin.

However, the διαφθορων – total ruin, or utter destruction – that was predicted by the prophets and became the history of the ancient Israel is the completion of some processes. The core, or the root, from which these processes sprung and became the actuality, also is known: apostasy, which is inseparable from idol–worship. How then, the chosen people were set free to claim the path of ruin, to take the way into the darkness and pit {Matthew 15:13–14; John 3:19–20}? What did happen between these two points – opening of the core of destruction (becoming apostate, for instance) and completion (the irreversible collapse, the utter destruction of the system that harbors apostates)?

In other words, how the total moral, religious, and political ruin is initiated and how it proceeds?

Isaiah the prophet {Isaiah 29:9–21; 30:1} conveys the words of God: “Woe to the apostate children who have framed counsel not by Me and covenants not by My Spirit, to add sins to sins”. The prophet explains how the ruin is initiated: the Lord shall close the eyes of the people, and the prophets, and the rulers – those who are supposed to see the hidden things: He shall give them the spirit of disheartening and deaden their eyes – πνευματι κατανυξεως, και καμμυσει τους οφθαλμους  αυτων. So for them, the hidden things (e.g., the true meaning of the events, the consequences, the future) shall be as the sealed book, which is not possible to read.

Then, the Lord shall proceed to remove them: He shall deprive of wisdomΣr3 the wise ones, and take out understanding from the reasonable ones.

Consequently, the one can make two inferences:

1/ “the apostate children” are those

a/ who live not by God

b/ whose actions are inconsistent with the nature of the world,

because they are not based on the law of God, according to which the world is created and exists

c/ who are destined for extermination

            2/ complete ruin is initiated through

a/ inability of men to comprehend true meaning of events and their consequences

b/ deprivation of wisdom

c/ absence of understanding

For instance, when a Christian becomes an apostateΣr4, he rejects faith in Lord Jesus Christ. At this point, his inner essence begins to undergo two changes, because he has cut himself from the Divine life–giving and life–maintaining energy of God, which is coming through faith and knowledge of God: 1/ the change of perception and 2/ the change of intellect–intelligence–reasoningΣr5. The apostate’s intellect, as well as his entire essence – soul–heart–mind [[see Chart 1. in The Mind]], is altered, so it loses its resemblance to the image of God → is deprived of the power to survive and to evolve → initiates collapse–destruction of the system within which he became an apostate, if this system tolerates his existence:

the intellect (Νους) is cut off from the connection with God,

so it does not receive the Divine Energy, which empowers the intellect to possess wisdom

the mind (Διανοια) does not receive the energy

that should descend from God into the Νους and become the thoughts,

which sustain existence and evolution within the world of the material things

consequently, there is no food – energy→knowledge – for normal operation of

consciousness/thinking/reasoning (γνωμαφρονημαλογισμος)

the mind becomes unable to adequately process information

received through the sensory faculty Αισθητηρια Οργανα,

which maintains orientation and physical survival within the world of the structured matter

From another angle of consideration, it might be said that the mind of apostate collapses into the state of χουν απο της  γης –  the pouring dust of the earth {Genesis 2:7}, which is not created–formed–structured by the Word–God, by the Absolute Power of God, and therefore, which has no στερεωμαΣr6. Consequently, the apostate’s mind

does not have the Word–God within

does not live by the Law of God

does not have love to God

is not empowered by the Holy Spirit

is not of God

does not receive the Energy from God,

which sustains evolution–transformation into the being

who is capable of everlasting life in the presence of God

In summary, the mind of the one who is not of God has no inner χωρει εν υμιν–space/place {χωρει εν υμινJohn 8:37, where χωρει is a derivative of χωρα (χωρη) – space, place, position, settings} for the Word–God. Hence, this is why the Holy Scriptures convey the definition “not of God”: such a heart–mind, because of rejection the faith and through violations of the law of God, does not have the Word–God within – it became the living dead.

The leaving dead is unable to keep–recognize the breath of God within own soul–heart–mind; he is empowered neither to accept the life–giving words of God that would prepare him for the eternal life {in: John 6:47, 62–63, 68–69; 8:37, 43, 51; 10:27–30} nor to perceive adequately the reality of the temporal world of the structured matter. The mind of such a being has lost abilities to comprehend the true meaning of the events and their consequences and is incapable of the right judgment {in: Isaiah 59:4–10}: it misinterprets the actuality, makes wrong decisions, lives in bewilderment and misery, contemplates iniquities and destruction, and ultimately, ruins the piece/part/subsystem of the world/reality, which is within its influence or under its control {e.g., in: Isaiah 24; 30:9–14}.

When the mind becomes incompatible with the nature of the world created by God for evolution of man

the mind is unable

to perceive–analyze–evaluate information and data adequately, according to the actuality,

to incorporate them with existing knowledge, and to create new knowledge of the actuality

[[because it has no the Word of God within, therefore, it is not empowered to operate according to the nature {in: John 15:1–6}]],

without which physical survival

within the constantly changing world of dissipating material structures is impossible

and the process of spiritual growth–maturity is impaired or completely unachievable

consequently, as any being incapable of evolution, the mind enters the short phase of stagnation

after stagnation, the mind undergoes degeneration→perversion→corruption

completed with total spiritual, intellectual, and moral ruin

Also, it might be said that by discarding the faith in God and the law of God, the mind leaves the light and goes into the darkness {in: John 3:18–21}: it discards the framework of knowledgeΣr7 that

a/ explains the nature and operations of the world and its elements, components, living beings, and material objects

b/ sustains survival and evolution of the human mind.

The key to understanding of the purpose and consequences of these changes is in the words of God {John 15:1–6}: without the Word–God Who is the Holy Wisdom – Λογος, Αγια Σοφια, and Glory of God [[especially, the Glory as the omnipotent power to successfully accomplish in all completeness and perfection]], human beings are empowered of nothing. Those who do not live by God –– to whom the Lord refers to as to the plants not planted by God, to the ones who have no place within them for the Word–God, and to those who are not of God {Matthew 15:13; John 5:37–47; 8:37–47; 12:44–50} –– become the withered branches, the food of the fire that annihilates the evil.

In the contemporary terms, this process might be described as disintegration of a system that has been cut off the source of life–sustaining energy and became unable to function according to its design and to accomplish the purposes for which it has been created.

It means that the protective structures/establishments of the contemporary societies, countries, states are inefficient, because they have rejected the knowledge and the law of God; thus, they do not live by true knowledge: the comprehension of truth is not given even to those that have access to the researches that confirm the energy nature of the mind and lead to the inference that such energy may come only from one Source – God {e.g., in: Psalm 18(19); 103(104), esp. 103(104):30; 147:15; Isaiah 40:21–31; Acts 14:15–17; 17:22–31; Romans 1:19–32; 2:14–16}.

For instance, in many societies and states, the people are taught at least some life–saving rules; for instance, how to protect themselves from exposure to the elements, how to drive car safely, how to take care of family and children, how to avoid toxic substances and hazards, and so on.

However, it is hard to find those who teach children to survive and to accomplish the purposes of the good in the world of the evil and to prepare themselves for the eternity with God. Such knowledge, as well as the very mentioning of Lord God Jesus Christ and Christian teachings, became almost unknown, or “politically incorrect,” or forbidden in many societies, even in those, which identify themselves as free countries that pursue human rights and defend “civil liberties”Σr8.

Yet, the current actual “freedom” is the permissibility (or even obligation – for countries with mandatory public schooling) to expose children to the corruptive influence of false teachers and perverts, culture of violence and corruption, propaganda and myths spread by media in pursuit of transformation of the people created by God into the heard of beasts controlled by deceit and managed by lies. In addition, the daily reality also includes papal priests–pedophiles–perverts–sexual predators and abusers that present themselves as “Christians” and have access to children through religious educational and charitable institutionsΣr9.

Many loving parents teach their kids do not talk to strangers, do not use narcotics, and to do some other things that facilitate physical safety and survival. Yet, still, many are deprived of the knowledge of the law of God and the knowledge of God that nourishes the soul–heart–mind and provides a possibility to evolve into the children of God who will live in the presence of God through the eternity.

Does not upbringing of the people deprived of the knowledge of God – the knowledge that gives the everlasting life {John 17} – look as spiritual infanticide?...”

Σr1 See The “new teachings” was the Pharisee–Sadducee–Herodian heresy developed on basis of the doctrines, which sustained the cults of the heathen nations surrounding Israel. The Lord’s definition of the leaders of ancient Israel as “offspring of vipers” {Matthew 23:33} reveals the source of corruption: the doctrine of serpent–worshipers – Orphism. The definition given by the Lord summarizes the Israel’s history of rejection of God, violations of the Law, and idol–worship, which resulted in inability to recognize the Messiah and the time of visitation { Malachi 3:1–9, 17–18; 4; Luke 19:41–44; John 1:9–11}.

The words of God, Who sees the true essence – the soul–heart–mind – of man, reveal the tragedy of the chosen people who, following their leaders, became the evil and adulterous and sinful generation, the ones who are not of God, the murderers of the righteous men and prophets sent by God, the likeness of the arch–enemy that was the murderer of men from the beginning, the hypocrites, evil and devoid of reason “blind guides” who lead the ignorant (“blind”) people incapable of comprehension the truth into the pit {Matthew 12:34; 16:1–4; 23:1–35; Mark 8:38; John 7:25–26, 30, 44–49; 8:44–47; 9:39–41}.

The source of corruption – the doctrine of serpent–worshipers: the Orphism, which underlies the cults of the arch–evil in the image of the serpent and which became the foundation of many heathen religious that existed in the Middle East – is the false knowledge. The Holy Scriptures refer to this knowledge as to the wine produced by the vine of Sodom that carries the rage of serpents and incurable rage of asps {θυμος δρακοντων ο οινος αυτων, και θυμος ασπιδων ανιατος – Deuteronomy 32:16–33}, as to the lethal poison of asp and viper {e.g., in: Deuteronomy 32; Psalm 90(91):13; 139(140):3; Isaiah 59:2–5; Romans 3:13}.

The warning concerning the lethal poison of idol–worshipers – that is death, which watches over those who turn away from God, is one of the main themes of the Holy Scriptures, which runs through the entire Book of Life {e.g., Deuteronomy ⟹ Psalm 90 ⟹ The Book of Isaiah ⟹ The Gospel According to Luke ⟹ The Epistle to Romans}. Obviously, the Holy Scriptures refer not to the poison produced by creatures of flesh, which might be rendered harmless with physical power and weapon of men; the poison is knowledge of the idol–worshipers. Later, through the philosophical doctrines, social and political utopias of Plato, Aristotle, and their followers, this knowledge “produced by the vine of Sodom” and carrying “the incurable rage of asps” penetrated the Western civilization.

Σr3 In general, wisdom is the power of reason/intelligence, with which a human being survives and evolves into the child of God. In practical sense, wisdom of a human being is the state of empowerment, when a human being, who has been receiving the Divine Energy and knowing the Law of God, becomes the co–worker of God and creator of works that actualize the will of God within the world given into the dominion of man {John 14; 15; 16; 17; 1 Corinthians 3:9}.

Wisdom might be also defined as comprehension of the Law of God and the subsequent ability to observe the Law: to live according to the Law of God, to embody the Law of God into daily life – the reality of own existence. As such, wisdom initiates and sustains human evolution, which is the process of transformation into the immortal child of God destined for the eternity in the presence of God.

The recent revelations concerning world–wide abuse of children in the referred above UN report of January 31, 2014, which also mentions the Magdalene laundries of Ireland run by the papal establishment (under the heading Torture and other cruel or degrading treatment or punishment, in Part D. Violence against Children), officially opens for the world the deeds of the papal establishment that under cover of the religion, which the papacy blasphemously associates with Christianity, harbors pedophiles and perverts, abuses and tortures children, and destroys moral and physical health of the papal subjects.

However, the most revealing is not the UN Report itself; the most revealing points are the following:

1/ the Vatican’s response to the UN report concerning world–wide abuse of children in the papal establishments is the complain that “it interfered with church teaching and religious freedom” [in: The U.N. Confronts the Vatican –  http: // www.]

2/ the Vatican’s attempt to separate jurisdiction of the Vatican over its territory and jurisdiction of the local episcopates under the papal power, while, the papacy constantly asserts its world–wide power and claims the right on the unreserved obedience to the superiors – the first one of them is the pope – of all papal subjects, the Catholics.

However, the UN Report notices that “subordinates in Catholic religious orders are bound by obedience to the Pope in accordance with Canons 331 and 590. The Committee therefore reminds the Holy See that by ratifying the Convention, it has committed itself to implementing the Convention not only on the territory of the Vatican City State but also as the supreme power of the Catholic Church through individuals and institutions placed under its authority” [UN Report, III.8].

Hence, there is some irrationality in the overall picture, firstly as inconsistence between two groups of facts:

1. a/ in the recent Past, the papal establishment did not hesitate to burn people alive for disobedience to the papal superiors and rejection of the papal pretense on the place of God [[e.g., see The Priest, and Heresy excerpts in Note 4 to Archive_Selections_2016]] in all countries under the papal “jurisdiction,” that is where the papal subjects lived under control of the papal church of Rome

b/ through the centuries after the Great Schism, the papacy continued to pursue relentlessly subjugation of the Orthodox Christianity world–wide [[e.g., the Byzantine Empire, Slavonic tribes, and later – Ukraine and Russia]]

c/ the papacy continues its efforts to destroy Christianity through the world–wide ecumenical movement (see Ecumenism in The World & The War. Part I.).

2. now, when the people attempt to curb the lechery of pedophiles and to stop abuse of children, it attempts to cover itself with statements concerning

a/ territorial “jurisdiction”  ––– the meaning: the papacy has no power within different countries and therefore is not able to control behavior of the papal priests)

b/ “church teaching and religious freedom”  –– does the freedom in this case means the freedom to abuse and corrupt  children and therefore to violate the laws of all countries with normal perception of value of a child?

Such inconsistency is rooted in the following:

1/ the papal establishment works according to Aristotle–Aquinas’ doctrine based on the heathen philosophical doctrines derived of the mythical serpentine theology of the Orphics [[see Folder Heathen Philosophy:  Doctrine of Thomas Aquinas; Folder Political Theology: Political Theology, The Hierarchical Church, and The Church Militants; excerpts from The Priest, and Heresy – in Note 4, and – concerning the Orphism – Note 22 to Archive_Selections_2016]]

2/ the “absolute power” of the papacy is based on the set of the following Aquinas’ assertions made into the articles of the papal faith:

a/ “special grace” of the papal office issuing from the “divinely appointed functionary” – the deified pope

b/ specific “virtue of authority,” according to which even the wicked sinners, if they are prelates and princes, stand at the place of God and have a “share of the dignity of God,” and the issuing papal assertion that priests in the state of mortal sin can discharge their duties “by the power of Holy Spirit” [[this assertion is the utter heresy and utter blasphemy for the Christians]]; and then, the practical inference that the place at the papal hierarchy protects the wicked sinner from just punishment

c/ the power of the pope to override the law of God.

So it looks like “church teaching and religious freedom” referred to in the Vatican’s response to the UN report means the papal freedom to stay above the laws, including the laws that protect children from abuse and torture; such “freedom” of the “divinely appointed functionaries” is justified with Aristotle–Aquinas’ political theology derived of the heathen philosophy (doctrines of Aristotle the Orphic and the slave–owner) that is the Vatican’s official doctrine, and therefore, its “church teaching.”

Hence, if to take into consideration the nature of the papal establishment and its reaction on the world–wide scandals, the one might conclude that there is no possibility to ever have the satisfying response or to expect complete extermination of the abusive practices and corruption from the daily life of the papal establishment.

The Danger of Lies

…Sinners have gone astray… they speak lies.

Their venom is like that as of a serpent, as of a dead asp…

They shall be destroyed as melted wax: the fire has fallen and they have not seen the sun

{Psalm 57(58):3, 4, 8}

…Your land is desolate; your cities are burned with fire. Your country:

the strangers devour it in your presence, and it is made desolate, overthrown by strange nations…

How has the faithful city of Sion, once full of judgment, became a harlot!

Wherein righteousness lodged, but now murderers

…princes are … companions of thieves, loving bribes, seeking after rewards…

{Isaiah 1:7, 21, 23}

…None speaks justly, neither is there true judgment:

they trust in vanities, and speak emptiness; for they conceive trouble and bring forth iniquity…

…their works are works of iniquity… their feet run to wickedness, swift to shed blood;

their thoughts also are thoughts of murder;

destruction and misery are in their ways; and the way of peace they know not,

neither is there judgment in their ways; for their paths by which they go are crooked…

…and there is no salvation…

righteousness has departed afar off

…truth has been taken away, and they have turned aside their mind from understanding…

{Isaiah 59:4, 6–8, 11, 14, 15}

…For priest and prophet are defiled, and I have seen their iniquities in My house…
also in the prophets of Jerusalem I have seen horrible things:

as they committed adultery and walked in lies,

and strengthened hands of many that they should not return each from his evil ways;

they are all become to Me as Sodom and the inhabitants thereof as Gomorrah…

for from the prophets of Jerusalem has defilement gone forth into all the land…

{Jeremiah 23:11, 14, 15}

The prophets have definite perception of lies: the lies are venom like that of a serpent, as of a dead asp.

If to analyze the consequences of lies, for instance, those described by Isaiah the prophet {Isaiah 1; 59}, the one could infer the direct connections of lies with injustice, crimes, iniquities, bloodshed, crookedness – all of them completed with destruction and death. Furthermore, to give place to lies, the truth has been taken away; then, nor true judgment nor righteousness nor understanding is left: the liars trust in vanities, speak emptiness, and run to wickedness and murder: bloodshed is in their ways, they do not know the way of peace, and salvation is gone from them.

Jeremiah the prophet {Jeremiah 23} conveys the words of God concerning the core of the ancient society: those with the highest authority and power of persuasion – priests and prophets [[perhaps they could be likened to contemporary leaders, thinktanks, media, and other opinion–makers, which make the core of each society–nation–state]] who forgot their responsibilities before God and people and turned away from God:

a/ they are idol–worshipers

b/ they walk in adulteries and lies

c/ they became an abomination to God as Sodom and Gomorrah are

d/ they defile and pollute the country/nation; from them, the defilement is spreading forth, into all the land.

Do not the texts of the ancient prophets describe the current reality?

I think that they do; only names of people (for instance, some current politicians), cities, and countries are missed.

So, why the wisest of men, the Hebrew prophetsΣ1, spoke of the direct connection of lies and destruction, and equated liars to abomination of Sodom and Gomorrah because they walk in adultery and lies, strengthen the others in their evil ways, and spread defilement over all the land?

Perhaps, the answer could be found in the meanings of lies; what then, are lies?

Lord God Jesus Christ said {John 8:37–47} to those wanted to kill Him, because His word has no place in them and who were not able to understand His words, because they do not have power to hear His word:

You are of the devil as of father, and the lusts of your father you desire to do.

That one [[the devil]] was a murderer from the beginning, and it has not stood in the truth, because there is no truth in it.

When it speaks a lie, it speaks of its own, because it is a liar and the father of lies

The ultimate destiny of liars is revealed by other texts of the Holy Scriptures; this destiny is eternal death–separation from God. Everyone loving and making a lie will be left outside of the holy city of God, New Jerusalem: along with κυνες (perverts)Σ2, sorcerers, fornicators, murderers, and idolatersΣ3, he will share the destiny of his father – the devil/arch–evil, the father of lies {Revelation 20:10–15; 21:1–8; 22:14–15}.

The one who wholeheartedly accepts a liar as a friend, adviser, employer, employee, or elects a liar to lead the office/nation expecting then, any improvement, puts himself in danger similar to a silly child from the ancient tale who carried an asp–pet on his bosom, and died when the creature grew up and bit him, injecting all its poison into his heart.

Hence, for the Christians, for whom the words of Lord Jesus Christ, the Word–God, are the Absolute Truth, the danger of lies is understandable: lies come from the arch–evil, which is the father of lies. Therefore, as everything connected with the arch–evil, lies carry death as asp/viper carries the lethal poison that kills:

–– at the earth – because they debilitate the reasoning–mind with the false knowledge/lies making it incapable of right judgment and thus, incapable of survival and development

–– after physical death – the eternal death as the eternal separation from God.

It means also, that for the Christian,

–– every liar/politician–official–preacher–journalist–whoever who lies serves the arch–evil

–– every media channel, which broadcasts disinformation,

does the work of the arch–evil disseminating lies and with them, death

–– every religion, which advances and recruits newcomers with lies, is the cult of the arch–evil

–– any religion, which uses lies to proselytize or to convert by deceit and coercionΣ4,

worships the arch–evil and recruits the slaves for the arch–evil

–– any religious–political–social–educational–research–other establishment

that operates on lies/false knowledgeΣ5, performs the works of the arch–evil

However, what concerning the majority – all the others who are not the Christians? How they could comprehend the danger of lies and understand that the end of any of lies is collapse, destruction, death?

Perhaps, they might be convinced, if they look into the history of mankind. The history of mankind is the chain of vanished civilizations, destroyed kingdoms, states, and empires, incessant wars and conflicts, the roots of which always are the same: lies, false knowledge, and deceit – coercion based on lies.

If to put aside the religious, ethical, and moral parts of the problem [[truth is good/life; lies/false knowledge is bad/evil/death]], and to consider only the business/practical aspects, the common knowledge is that, in any sphere of any –– religious, political, social, other –– activities, the wrong decisions lead to failure.

In particular, is anyone able to make right decision, if his reasoning–mind is debilitated with false knowledge and he is not able to comprehend the reality, because he lives in unhealthy state of unreality built upon lies, false assumptions, figments of imaginationΣ6?

Hence, for a non–Christian, the inference might not be very different from the inference that a Christian would make; for instance,

–– a politician–liar is not capable to secure survival and development of the country/state/office/whatever establishment;

thus, he never must be admitted to the power, because he would lead the country/state/nation

 to impoverishment, defilement, division, disintegration, collapse, defeat, and assimilation by the enemies

–– a media channel that is spreading false information in attempt to manipulate thinking and behavior of a person

should be discarded and abandoned

–– the religion that advances by deceit must be rejected

–– any religious–political–social–educational–research–other establishment that operates on lies/false knowledge

must be put out of business or disregarded, because it could initiate collapse of the entire society, state, nation

In summary, the danger of lies might be easily understood, if the one takes into consideration that

a/ lies/false knowledge come from the arch–evil, which is their father

b/ lies, as anything coming from or serving to the arch–evil, are abomination to God; hence, lies separate from God and lead the one to the eternal death

c/ the wise one does not lie: the security/welfareΣ7 of the world, including each state and nation, depends on presence of the wise ones who live by the Truth.

Σ5 False knowledge is assumption–assertion–thought–opinion–judgment that is not adequate, that do not reflect–describe–make understandable the actuality of human existence. Creation/acceptance of the false or inadequate knowledge indicates degeneration of the mind. Only the perverted reasoning, which has rejected or forgot own Creator, becomes able to accept the false as the truth and then, to create false knowledge for the others. The examples of false knowledge include the heathenism, acceptance of which indicates the stage of irreversible destruction of human establishments [[e.g., civilization, empire, state, society]], Aristotelian logic of simplification, upon which the contemporary ethics–free materialistic sciences operate, and propaganda with which the enemies destroy the nation/state/empire.

The Code of Survival

Turn away from evil, and do good; seek peace and pursue it

{Psalm 33:14}

Hope in the Lord, and do good, and dwell on the land, and thou shall be fed with the wealth of it…

…Cease from anger and forsake wrath: fret not thyself so as to do evil.

For the evil–doers shall be exterminated,

But they that wait on the Lord, they shall inherit the earth…

…the meek shall inherit the earth and shall be delighted in peace

{Psalm 36:3, 8–9, 11}

David the shepherd boy, prophet, and eventually, the king of the chosen nation, received from God the precious gift: the knowledge of God. David has written down the Psalms – songs, which convey this knowledgeΣ1: they carry the codes of survival – formulas of life.

By listening, memorizing, and reciting the Psalms and then, by arranging life according to the knowledge conveyed by the Psalms, the generations of people received the power a/ to comprehend the terms of survival – wisdomΣ2 and b/ to achieve the purpose for the sake of which they have been born: to become the very Own people of God –

in the beginning, in the Judaic civilization, slaves, servants, and priests

ultimately, in the Christian civilization, immortal children and royal priesthood, the light in God,

and children of the Father of lights

{Matthew 5:17–48; John 1:1–18; 14; 15; 16; 17; James 1:17–18; 1 Peter 1; 2; Galatians 4:6–7; Ephesians 5:8–10}

All Psalms convey the life–sustaining knowledge; each of them has the special message revealing the Omnipotent power of God, and explaining the facetsΣ3 of the Absolute Good of God, which the one should learn and imitate {Mathew 5:48; Luke 6:17–49; John 13:34–35; 15:12–17}, if he desires to obtain the everlasting life.

And I think that if the one desires to take his own road to perfection and completeness of understanding, he should devote some time for reading the Psalms and thinking about the message conveyed through the Psalms. Perhaps, he would begin with the most straightforward ones, such as Psalm 33(34) and Psalm 36(37), which explain that

if the one desires to live and to see good, he should

call upon God

stay with God by observing His lawΣ4

live righteously

[[that is according to the law  – The Ten Commandments]]

do good

deal with the others as he desires to be dealt with:

– cease from anger

– neither speak nor do evil

The one who reads the Psalms – the precious inheritance of the Judaic civilization – with attentive and unbiased mind, would discern in them the eternal Wisdom that God grants to His children to accept it as the guiding Light into the eternity, to hold it as the key to His kingdom, and to live by it as the traveler in the arid desert lives by the life–giving waterΣ5.

Σ1 In general, knowledge is associated with the abilities to act consistently with the nature of the world, or at least, a part of it, to which the mind is related by the nature and purposes of its activities.

Concerning different aspects of knowledge, knowledge frameworks, wisdom, and the complete knowledge, see

Σ2 In general, wisdom is the power of reason/intelligence, with which a human being survives and evolves into the child of God.

…there is no new thing under the sun…

...the living know that they shall die…

...the dead know nothing…their memory is lost.

Also their love, and their hatred and their envy, have now perished;

indeed, there is no portion for them any more for ever in all that is done under the sun…

{Ecclesiastes 1:9; 9:5–6}

Solomon the king in Jerusalem, the wisest of all the rulers and perhaps, one of the first philosophers of the Judaic civilizationΣ1, has a particular vision of the world: two directions of thought are intertwined in his book {Ecclesiastes}.

The first

A generation appears, and generation goes away, yet the Earth stands. The wind goes round and round, and returns on its circles. The rivers find their rest within the sea, yet, they flow again and again, and the see is not overfilled, because the rivers return to their beginning. The sun arises and goes down, to the sunset, and then, next dawn marks the new day. There is nothing new under the sun: whatever was, it is, and it shall be; each thing comes in its own time; moreover, no memory of the Past enters the Future.

Solomon acknowledges that he accomplished everything he wanted: all that people could ever desire was given to him and opened to his understanding, yet, all his deeds and observations led him to the following sad inferences:

– all labors of man are only for body; his soul is not satisfied

– all labors of man are futile; no one has the authority over the fruits of own labor, accumulated wealth [[indeed, everything of the material valuables might be taken away by force, through the power of coercion or deceit, and transferred to the others]], and own spirit; man cannot prevent own death or to prolong own life

– the fate of man is the same as the fate of beast: all came from the dust and all will return into the dust

– there is no memory of the Past in the Future, and the living do not know their end – an evil time falls upon them suddenly and they are snared as the fishes taken by the evil netΣ2

– there is no knowledge of love as well as there is no knowledge of hatred, and the same fate (death of body) awaits those who are good and those who are evil

– the hearts of men are filled with evil and madness in their life: they are in the pursuit of death

– with the departure–death of man, his love and envy perish; the dead one takes with him into the oblivion all his good (love) and all his evil (hatred, envy): there is no more portion and there is no more place for him under the sun

– everything is vanity of vanities; all is vanity...

In summary: all things at the Earth come into existence, fulfill the circle–cycle of life, reach the end, and then, revert to the beginning; everything has its own time–frame – χρονος, the moment of fulfillment – καιροςΣ3, when all comes to the completion, and then, vanishes to clean the site for the next generation. The next set starts again within the same presumably unchangeable world leaving nothing definite or new to those who will follow: man has no knowledge of good and evil, and he is not different from other living creatures, because in the allotted time, death takes all the living and the very memory of them vanishes.

So, the logic behind the first line of thoughts leads to a conclusion that the world of men is quite tedious and meaningless place: there is nothing new under the sun, and the Earth is nothing more than the constant setting, e.g., as the wooden frame for the mind to weave its masterpiece of lifeΣ4, within which, without memory of the Past and without initial access to true knowledge of the good and the evil, the same cycles are repeated again and again and again

creation –– origin

existence –– accomplishment or consummation

death –– disintegration

Hence, the one could ask:

–– is there any meaning in human life and how anyone would expect something new, attempt to accomplish that what has not been seen before, to discover the new meaning of things, to pursue the purposes, which were not accessible for those who lived before?

–– is there any reason to seek the meaning of everything, if the same set of emotions, feelings, joys, sufferings, pleasures, findings, and losses awaits every human being, if all had happened before: all has been cognized or was not possible to cognize, all has been found, all has been lost, and all, as all purposelessness/vanity, is destined to plunge into oblivion?

David the king and Solomon’s father said {Psalm 38(39):5}: my reality as emptinessΣ5 before Thee, and every man living is overall vanity.

The second

The general idea of nothingness and meaningless of powerless men who have no knowledge of the good and the evil and who vanish without trace is opposed to and defied by the second line of thoughts, which reflects man’s connection with the Almighty God and acknowledges intervention of God into the life of man.

All deeds of God are timeless: they shall be forever. All deeds of men vanish. The world is set within the heart of man, so he would do his part of labor within the allotted time, yet, man is unable to comprehend the deeds of God as well as to deduce the complete meaning of own deeds. Only God gives knowledge and opens mind for understanding and wisdom: all good things come to man by the will of God and not by man’s own labor. Although God created man to be righteous, the imagination is inclined to evil {Genesis 8:21}, and intentions of man are many, yet, God will investigate and judge all {Ecclesiastes}.

Consequently {Ecclesiastes 12:13}, the sum of all is to fear God and to observe His commandments: in this is the essence or entirety of man.

Therefore, the one could infer that Solomon acknowledges existence of two kinds of knowledge.

1. The knowledge of things classified by Solomon as “vanity,” which sustains the continuous physical existence of mankind and men’s establishments; this knowledge can be forgotten and re–discovered/created over and over again. Forgetfulness and re–discovery/creation depend on the changes within the mutual framework; for instance, such as availability of the resources sustaining life, degree of perversion followed with the abnormal mutation, advancement of evolutionΣ6 or anti–evolutionΣ7 of the mindΣ8, changes in the realms of plants, birds, animals, microorganisms, and others due to

–– either degeneration–perversion–mutations triggered by the actions of men

–– or growth–development–evolution according to their nature created by God.

Although according to Solomon, there is no memory of the Past in the Future, each new generation starts with the initial capital of knowledge – legacy of the ancestors: some part of education includes memorizing of the history data [[arranged and interpreted in accordance with the purposes of those who pay educators’ salaries and control the society – the ones for whose purposes the children are educated]], and knowledge of the matter: the range of parameters and conditions – those accommodating life and those resulting in death. The very idea of the repetitive cycles of life (circles of the wind) suggests existence of some general all–embracing and all–accommodating frameworkΣ9 that explains the world, which sustains life, allows proceeding according its natural course, and triggers termination of those with the unnatural deviations. Without at least some – basic – knowledge of the world of matter, it would not be possible to sustain the change of generations and to provide the newcomers with initial definitions of the values and purposes established/re–discovered by those still living who attempt to continue the definite manner of existence and to preserve things they assume to be valuable.

Therefore, the Solomon’s term “vanity” reflects the temporal nature of human knowledge: it exists within the particular time, describes the temporary conditions and settings, and vanishes when

a/ those who carry it complete the earthly journey – their cycle of life

b/ the settings for the cycles of life are changed; for instance, there is no much knowledge of the first Earth, which was destroyed by the Flood {2 Peter 3:1–7}.

2. The knowledgeΣ10, which sustains the possibility of life, therefore, which must be available for each mind–participant of each cycle of life; this knowledge includes the lawsΣ11 controlling the life of the spirit–mind and its power over the matter–body as well as over all things of the world under the sun.

This knowledge has the eternal nature and leads the one into the eternity, in which there is no such settings as time, therefore in which the vision of things is clear in all its entirety, without subdivisions on knowledge perceivable now, in the Present, and knowledge that can be accessed and learned only later, in the Future {e.g., in: 2 Corinthians 5:7; 1 John 3:1–3}. The writings of the Prophets and the Apostles provide the insight into the realm of such knowledge. This knowledge – the key into the eternity – might be accessed only through the Word–God {John 6:28–63, 65; 14; 15; 16; 17; 1 Peter 1; 2; 2 Peter 1:2–11; 2 Corinthians 2:17; Ephesians 1; 2; 3:9–21}, yet, the temporary knowledge of the vanity may, sometimes, supplant the true priority in those who are on their way to the perfection of the complete knowledge {2 Corinthians 6:14–18; 10:3–5; Galatians 4:8–10; 5:1, 13–26; 6:8–10; Ephesians 4:17–32; 5; 6; Colossians 1; 2; 3; 1 Thessalonians 5}.

There is a text in the New Testament, which allows comprehension of the practical difference between two kinds of knowledge and their actual worth.

Lord God Jesus Christ came into the house of Lazarus and his two sisters {Luke 10:38–42; John 11:1–2; 12:1–3}. One sister – Martha began to prepare the feast, another sister – Mary sat at the Lord’s feet to hear His words. Martha needed help because she cared for good dinner for the Lord and those with Him; so, she came to Him and requested that Mary left the Lord and came to help her, Martha, to serve. The answer of the Lord makes clear that the Mary’s choice is better: Martha is concerned to rule many things, yet the only one is needed; on the other hand, Mary pursues the good portion, which will not be recovered from her {Luke 10:38–42}. Consequently, Martha wanted to control temporary things, which will come to pass, will be consumed and forgotten; Mary clings to the eternal knowledge of eternal God – the knowledge that, if accepted and learned and made the very own life {John 1:1–18; 3:3–21; 4:23–24; 6:28–69; 14; 15; 16; 17}, none is able to take from her.

This short conversation reveals that the words of God carry the eternal knowledge/source of life, which establishes the foundation of the mind–soul and which cannot be taken away: it is unrecoverable, because it feeds the mind–soul, gives it the life everlasting, and prepares it for the eternity with God {in: John 6:28–29, 35-63, 65; 14: 15; 16; 17}. Following the Prophets of the Past and perceiving the voice of the Lord, Mary chooses God as her portion, and she will not be separated from Him {Psalm 118(119):57–60; 141(142):5; Lamentations 3:24–26; Luke 10:39, 42; John 10:1–5, 27–30}.

Hence, the New Testament transforms sadness of Ecclesiastes into the confidence of completion. Now, the mind of anyone who has been redeemedΣ12 by Lord Jesus Christ, the Word–God, and who has found his DoorΣ13 into the eternity, is empowered to obtain the complete life–giving knowledgeΣ14, which cannot be forgotten or taken away.

Although revealed almost 2000 years ago, this knowledge never was or will be the Past, because it stands apart, and because the worst enemies of man – the time, vanity, hatred, evil, and death – have no authority over it: this knowledge restores the divine nature and divine inheritance of man {Psalm 15(16):5; 72(73):26}. With this knowledge, each mind that has been blessed with an ability to perceive––learn it and wisdom to live by it, is transformed into the chosen one: the child of God destined for the eternity with God {John 1:1–18; 6:63; 10:1–18, 27–30; 14:6–27; 15; 16; 17; Revelation 21:1–8; 22:1–5, 10–15}.

With this knowledge, neither a thought of good nor a word of truth vanishes: this knowledge sustains life and development of the Christian CivilizationΣ1; this knowledge builds the new everlasting world, in which God dwells with His creations.

The Reality of the Emptiness

my reality as emptiness before Thee

{Psalm 38(39):5}

If taken in their entirety, the Books of the Holy Scriptures convey the message of hope because they are the guidance for the path into the everlasting life. Yet, there are texts about seemingly inconsolable human despair, which arises from the depth of the wounded and afflicted heart:

– as it was said to Job the Righteous, shall a mortal be pure before the Lord? Those in the houses of clay are smitten: from the morning to the evening they no longer exist – they have perished, because they cannot help themselves: they have perished for lack of wisdom {Job 4:17–21}

– as David the prophet and the king in Jerusalem said, the one’s realityΣr1 is as emptiness before God {Psalm 38(39):5}

– as Solomon the king wrote, vanity of vanities… all is vanity: the days of evil and the years come, in which the one shall have no pleasure, before the pitcher is to be broken at fountain, the dust is to return to the dust, and the spirit is to return to God Who gave it, because man has gone to his eternal home {Ecclesiastes 12:1–8}.

All is in vain, and everything is vanity – nothing is left: flesh is formed of clay and it carries the spirit as the pitcher carries water; then, it returns to the dust, when spirit departs, and everything that was the food of thoughts – contemplated–actualized–created–planned – vanishesΣr2.

However, Isaiah the prophet said: we are the clay – the work of God: He has withheld Himself, and was silent, and we came to nothing. All flesh is grass, and all glory of man as the flower of grass – the grass withers and the flower fades {Isaiah 40:6; 64:8, 12}. Thus, emptiness comes only into the heart that has no God.

Hence, is any reason behind human pride, hierarchies, elites, recognition of human greatness and wisdom, and other fantasies and phantoms, with which many fill the emptiness of life in the vain attempt to find any meaning of their existence? All is vanity, if within the human heart/mind there is no place for God; all is useless and senseless vanity, if it is not done for God.

Then, it was the promise: the Glory of the Lord shall appear, and all flesh shall see salvation of God, for the Lord has spoken {Isaiah 40:5}.

This promise was fulfilled by the Word–God – the Glory of God Who manifested Himself in resurrection of Lazarus: He spoke and the dead one went out of his grave {John 11:40–44}.

Resurrection of LazarusΣr3 foretold the destiny of those who shall see salvation of God: the Word–God is resurrection and life, and the one believing in Him even if he dies, he shall live {John 11:25–26}.

Resurrection of Lazarus also marked the last days of human despair: just a little time was left before crucifixion of the Son of man and the Son of God, when the Word–God completed His mission to deliver His chosen ones from the power of the evil and death, to set them free from sin, to reconcile them with God, and to give them the everlasting life {Mark 1:8; Luke 3:16; 12:49; John 1:12–13; 14:1–28; 17:1–8; 19:5–30; 1 John 4:9–21; 2 Peter 3:7–10; Genesis 2:16–17; 3:17–25; Isaiah 51:6; Daniel 7:9–14}:

– He collected the lost ones, gave them knowledge of God the Father and of Himself that is the life everlasting, cast the Divine Fire into the earth – baptized man by the Holy Spirit [[our God is the Spirit, the Consuming Fire, the Holy One, while man is the earth, the creature formed of dust, the vessel of clay carrying the breath of life breathed by God {John 4:24; Deuteronomy 4:24; Genesis 2:7; Isaiah 64:8, 12}]] Σr4

– He reconciled man to God, empowered man to become a child of God born of God, and revealed to man the Perfect Love of God

– although He left the world destined to annihilation because it became the nest of the evil and dwelling of the death, still, He comes into the heart–mind of everyone who believes in Him, who observes His words, and who does His works: He leads him into life everlasting in His kingdom.

And I think that despair vanishes at the very moment, when the one’s reality is transformed into the reality of the Kingdom of God. Until then, the mind has the work to do: to learn the law {Psalm 118(119)}Σr5 and the words of God, to comprehend how everything is connected in the past and the future and how everything comes to its end, and to find the road to the Source and Reason of everything that is good. Eventually, everything meets own καιροςΣr6 by reaching the completion either of perfection [[for those who have found God and obtained the complete knowledge]]Σr7 or collapse [[for those who rejected the knowledge that is the everlasting life]]Σr8.

Ascent to the completion of perfection, for which a human being has been created, is possible only because of guidance of God: only with God the lost ones are found, the dead ones are resurrected to life, the ignorant ones obtain wisdom, and the end of “vessels of clay” becomes the beginning of existence of the living eternal stones that are establishing into the dwelling–temple of God {1 Peter 2:4–6; Ephesians 2}. All that may live becomes the one’s reality of life and the one’s actuality–meaning of existence – the state of his mind – only with the Almighty, the onlyΣr9 One True God Who is the Beginning and the End, the Alfa and the Omega, the everlasting life and everything of His creation {John 10:30; 17; Revelation 1:8; 21:1–7; Ecclesiastes 12:13}.

Σr1 In Psalm 38(39):5, after acknowledgement that his days are established ancient/old [[παλαιας   εθου  τας  ημερας μου;  εθου  is a derivative of τιθημι – the verb with multitude of meanings of establishment, institution, transformation, placement]], David says: και  υποστασις   μου  ωσει  ουθεν  ενωπιον  Σου –– and my reality as emptiness before You.

The Greek word υποστασις  has meanings of foundation, scheme, plan, reality, actuality, essence, confidence; personality; however this word was translated as

– lifetime, life/whole life, life–span – in English versions of the Bible

– existence – in the Septuagint [R].

Furthermore, ουθεν means not only “nothing” as it is interpreted in the Septuagint; other meanings of this word include void, emptiness, empty space, zero.

The text of Psalm 38(39):5 is completed with the sad observation: πλην τα   συμπαντα   ματαιοτης   πας  ανθρωπος  ζων – the entire human living (way of life, means of existence, meaning of life) altogether, without exception, is vanity (ματαιοτης – futility, worthlessness, vanity, from ματαω – to be empty, without sense/reason, vain; to do nothing).

Existence/life of man, whom God created according to His image and likeness, cannot be “nothing” before God Who has sent His only–begotten Son to save him from death and to give him the life everlasting {John 3:14–18; 6:29–69; 10:1–30; 12:20–50; 14; 15; 16; 17}.

Yet, the state and the purposes of the mind, which the mind sees as its life and as its priorities, can be the emptiness, because of

a/ the inconsistency with the main purposes of human existence [[one of them is to evolve for the next phase of existence – the eternity with God]]

b/ destructive self–feeding by the figments of imagination – false knowledge

c/ the inability to think that what is of God {in: Matthew 16:21–26}.

Thus, the literal meaning of the Psalm 38(39):5 is the acknowledgment that

1/ the David’s days are established as ancient [[probably as similar to the days of the past – days of previous generations of the “not pitied ones” {1 Peter 2:10} who lived and died without reconciliation with God and without obtaining the complete knowledge of God, when the Door into the Future was not opened yet]]

2/ his reality – the meaning of his existence, that by which and for the sake of which he lives – is emptiness before God

3/ moreover, the entire human living is worthlessness/vanity.

Similar thought is in Ecclesiastes: Ματαιοτης  ματαιοτητων… τα  παντα ματαιοτης – vanity of vanities … all is vanity {Ecclesiastes 12:8}.

The mentioned above text of Psalm 38(39):5 refers to the features of the time of the arid earth {Psalm 62(63}, when darkness – and with it sadness and despair – reigned, when the mind of man of the Old Testament was not illuminated by the Light of the world yet.

The emptiness of mind, of which the prophet says, is similar to the darkness that was before coming of the Light {Genesis 1:2}. Only with revelation of the Word–God, the Light of the world, the mind of man may evolve into the complete perfect world prepared for the works of God.

Σr9 In the phrase τον μονον αληθινον Θεον {John 17:3}, the Greek word μονον usually is translated as “only”: “the only true God”; thus, the entire logic block is interpreted as “the only true God.” However, μονον is also a derivative of two roots: 1/ μονο–  one, alone, and no–one else, only, and 2/ εν/εις primary word for numeral one, only.

Therefore, the complete meaning of τον μονον αληθινον Θεον  is “the only One True God.”

Such translation is confirmed by the words of Lord God Jesus Christ:

Εγω και ο Πατηρ εν εσμεν  –

I and the Father One are

{in: John 10:30; 14:6–10; 17:21, 23–26}

St. John the Apostle writes {1 John 5:7}:

ο Πατηρ, ο Λογος, και το Αγιον Πνευμα: και ουτοι οι τρεις Εν εισι –

the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit: and These Three One is

Therefore, translation of τον μονον αληθινον Θεον {John 17:3} as “the only One True God” conveys the essence of the monotheistic theology – the Christianity that is the ultimate knowledge of God the Father given and explained by Lord Jesus Christ, the Word–God, Whom He has sent for salvation of the world {John 1:1–18; 3:16–18; 6:39–40; 10:17–18, 30; 12:44–50; 14:6–11; 17}

 “The Lamp in the Darkness

For Thou, O Lord, will light my lamp: my God,

Thou will lighten my darkness

{Psalm 17(18):28}

Psalm 17 conveys the vision of David who, although already was annoyed to reign, is not a king yet. Saul the king strived to retain the throne by exterminating the competitor – David, because he recognized the future of David. Indeed, David was the shepherd boy, poet and artist in the beginning, then, the mighty warrior, then, a fugitive from his former master, and finally, the great king. Saul rebelled against the authority of God and became unable to perceive the power of God: the evil entered his heart. Saul’s purposes did not become the reality, and even his final appeal to grant him death remains unanswered: he has to take own life {1 Kingdoms 15:1–35; 16:1–13; 28:16–18; 31:4–5}.  Later, another Saul also would struggle against God, yet, his time is the time of mercy, and he is made into the Apostle and servant of the Light, which at the beginning he attempted to extinguish by assassination and persecution of the believers {Acts 8:1–3; 9:1–22; 19:11–12; 26:4–18; 1 Corinthians 9:1–2}.

The Septuagint’s text – οτι συ φωτιεις λυχνον μου Κυριε, ο Θεος μου φοτιεις το σκοτος μου – conveys at least three meanings:

1/ a manifest image of lamp made to carry the light, to illuminate the space, and to disperse the physical, perceivable darkness of the material world: the lamp is lit in the house, the darkness dissipates, everything becomes clear and known, and the inhabitants are enabled to continue their chores

2/ the hint leading to a vision of a lamp of the altar (the lamp of the tabernacle) which illuminates the sanctuary, so man is able to worship God

3/ the essence: man is a clay lampion made to carry the light; man carries the Spirit of God within the body of flesh, into the darkness of the world of matter. This Spirit–Light withstands the adversary or the hostile force – σκοτος –  darkness, which precludes man from fulfillment of his destiny. The Light annihilates evil (in this particular case, evil is hidden under the collective name “darkness” denoting ignorance, brutality, adversary forces of disintegration, death) and enables man to fulfill his designation: to carry the Light of God within the world, to embody this Light into own being, and to illuminate life of the others.

The perception of man as the likeness of a vessel of clay is frequent in the Old Testament’s texts; this idea comes to completion at the moment when Lord God Jesus Christ makes clay and creates eyes of the man who was born blind: clay of man and Light of God are bound together by the miracle of creation; the mercy of Creator defines the destiny of the created, and the presence of the Light reveals the temple and dwelling of God {Genesis 2:7; Job 33:6; Isaiah 45:9; 64:8; John 9:5–6; Romans 9:15–29; 1 Corinthians 3:16–17; 2 Corinthians 6:14–16}.

It is not possible to find many historical examples of the presence of the Spirit of God. The history of mankind portrays chiefly the pieces of biomass, which from childhood are trained to kill and to deprive the others of their possessions. One empire replaces another, one kingdom destroys other kingdoms, one cannibal kills and devour flesh of the others, one nation arises against other nations and transforms their land into the desert, one dictator terminates lives and takes away freedom and happiness of multitude of his subjects, one inferno of slavery is replaced with another more sophisticated one, one man assassinates another to harvest his organs for rich patients – and all this is repeated again and again and again…  If to collect into one place under the Heaven all blood, which was shed by tyrants, “great leaders,” and other murderers, suffering, and crimes inflicted by men on men and on other living creatures, they would definitely cover the Earth like waters of the Flood did.

Perversion of all flesh triggered the Flood and annihilation of the first Earth along with all living beings {Genesis 6:6–14}; only Noah with his family was spared to give mankind one more chance. Yet, with time, men again lost understanding that the human mind, which carries the Spirit of God, is the power created to dominate–control–maintain this world. The human thought creates, moves, and destroys the matter – we ourselves define our lives and our environment:

–  if we carry the Kingdom of God within us, we are the temple and dwelling of the Spirit of God: with our faith, we can move mountains and make trees obedient, and nothing impossible could exist {Matthew 10:1–8; 17:20; 21:18–22; Luke 17:6, 20–21; John 14:12–17; James 5:17–18; 1 Corinthians 3:16; 2 Corinthians 6:14–16}

–  if we carry darkness of evil within us, this world of ours becomes the darkness: with our inhumanity and evil of thoughts, words, and deeds, we evoke the annihilating fire, which will bring everything to its end {Isaiah 9:18–20; Matthew 13:40–42; John 3:19–21; 2 Peter 3:5–13}…

…only the Light of God gives the meaning to continuation of existence of mankind: until this Light is in the world, the hope lives. Without God, man is a beast without any trace of humanness, therefore, without any chance of survival: this beast destroys and devours everything living and, in its own turn, is destroyed by the fury of the nature perverted by his iniquities. Earthquakes, plagues, wildfires, droughts, hurricanes, floods, polluted air, poisoned water, contaminated soil, abnormal mutations, and other disasters are the manifestations of the force of evil unleashed by violations of the Law of God – that is by sins of men. The Prophets foretold this horror – the Holy Scriptures granted in the Past explain the Present and open knowledge of the Future: we have filled our land with iniquities and we are transforming the beautiful world into the place of desolation {Jeremiah 23:10–12; Ezekiel 15:6–8; Hosea 4:1–8; Zacharias 7:14; 2 Peter 1:19–21}. If mankind has to harvest the fruits of own labor now, what would be that, which can be collected?...”

“The Lamp and The Fire

For Thou, O Lord, will ignite my lamp;

my God will lighten my darkness.…

{Psalm 17(18):28}

“…It was the prophet’s hope of receiving the Light: God would ignite his lamp and lighten his darkness – Οτι Συ φωτιεις λυχνον μου Κυριε, ο Θεος μου φωτιεις το σκοτος μου {Psalm 17(18):28}.

A lamp is λυχνον – a vessel made from clay (usually, for ordinary people; palaces and temples had also brazen or metallic lamps), in which oil was burning and thus, lightening darkness of the night. The oil within the lamp had to be ignited with fire, and while the oil was burning, it radiated light.

Why man expects that God will ignite his lamp, what is the prophet’s actual expectation? The answer is in the Holy Scriptures, which speak of the light and the fire in connection to God. In particular,

Our God is the Consuming Fire

{Πυρ Kαταναλισκον – Deuteronomy 4:24; Hebrews 12:29}

God is the Light – Φωτισμος – light, illumination of man

{Psalm 26(27):1}

The Light over Jerusalem is come, and the glory of God is risen.

While darkness shall cover the earth, the glory of Lord shall appear upon Jerusalem,

and the kings shall walk in His light, and nations in His radiance

(λαμποτητι – radiance, brilliance, magnificence, brightness)

The Light of Israel is for the Fire, and He shall sanctify with the Fire

that consumes both – the soul and a body

{Isaiah 10:17–18; 60:1–2}

The Lord shall suddenly come into His temple,

and He is coming as the Fire melting, purifying, and refiningΠυρ χωνευτηριου:

the Lord shall purify the sons of Levi (His priests) as the gold and silver is purified,

so they shall serve Him in righteousness

{Malachi 3:1–3}

In the beginning was the Word, ο Λογος God was the Word, Θεος ην ο Λογος

the Word, through Whom everything came into being,

Who from the beginning is with God,

Who has the true Light that is life of man,

And Who enlightens every man coming into the world

{John 1:1–5, 9}

The Word–God came to explain God the Father,

to reveal the everlasting Life,

to give knowledge of the only true God and Jesus Christ Who He sent;

this knowledge is the life everlasting

 {John 1:18; 14:6–7; 17:1–3; 1 John 1:1–5}

Lord God Jesus Christ defined His mission:

He came to cast the Fire upon the earth

{Luke 12:49},

and He speaks of His people as of the lamp

{λυχνον –Psalm 17(18):28},

which is set to shine for all in the house

{Matthew 5:14–16}

The Word–God, Lord Jesus Christ,

came to baptize His people εν Πνευματι Αγιω και Πυρι – in the Spirit Holy and Fire,

the Unquenchable Fire {Πυρι ασβεστω – Luke 3:17} that annihilates the evil

{Luke 3:16–17; Corinthians 3:11–15}

The disciples of Lord God Jesus Christ received the promise to be baptized by the Holy Spirit,

when the Divine Fire is cast upon the earth according to the will of God.

This promise of God was fulfilled when the disciples received the Holy Spirit coming upon them

as the tongues of Fire appeared being distributed and sat on each of them

{Luke 12:49; 24:44–49; Acts 1:1–8; 2:1–4}

Through the power of the God the Spirit, the Omnipotent Consuming Fire

{John 4:24; Luke 3:16–17; Deuteronomy 4:24}

 that annihilates the evil,

our true essence tried by the Fire shall be revealed –

purified of sins, insufficiency and impotency of the matter (flesh and blood),

and freed from slavery of death

{1 Corinthians 3:13–15; 15:50–58}

God the Father, the Almighty Omnipotent God the Spirit is the Father of lights

{Πατρος των φωτων – James 1:17},

and the Christians are brought up by the Word of Truth

{the Word–God is the Truth – John 14:6}

to be the certain firstfruit of His creations

{James 1:17–18}

Therefore, the prophet expects the revelation of the true nature of man – the creation of God that comes to life by the Word–God, carries the Word–God – the Light of God within, knows God the Father and Lord Jesus Christ, the Word–God sent by the Father, and lives by the Divine Fire – by the Holy Spirit of God.

The mind, which seeks God and thirsts for the knowledge of God, would make many inferences from the chain of the mentioned above texts of the Holy Scriptures; as always, the purpose defines the choice.

And I think that the prophet’s message conveys the concise code, in fact, the logical building block/system that as every system within a logical reality carries the main code defining the logical reality; in this case, the logical reality/universe, which accommodates the world of man. This code contains the formula of creation and evolution of man. In the terms of the referred above texts of the Holy Scriptures, this process is defined as coming of the Divine Fire into the darkness of the human clay, after which a human being becomes the ignited lamp shining for all those in the house. Both – the human soul and the human body – are consumed/purified/inhabited by the Divine Fire, and

a human beast becomes a child of God

a human vessel of clay accommodates the Light ignited by the Divine Fire

a human being becomes the living temple of the Living God

the temporal world

{the earth that is the source of clay from which

 the vessels of clay are made – Isaiah 45:8–12; 64:8–9; Genesis 2:7←→John 9:4–7}

that finds its completion in disintegration of the matter

(e.g., death of a body that carries human essence – soul– heart–mind),

becomes the setting,

in which the Word–God, by entering the human soul–heart–mind, creates a new being –

His likeness – the temple of God,

empowered to receive the Holy Spirit and to enter the eternity with God

{John 1:1–5, 9, 12–13; 2:19–21;

1 John 3:1–2; 1 Corinthians 3:16; Ephesians 2:4–10, 13–22; Revelation 21:3–4; 22:3–5}

So, when the prophet expects to receive the Light from God, he foresees creation of a new being capable of accommodating the Divine Fire. This being – a child of God – comes into cosmos as the vessel of clay, is re–created by the Word–God, is empowered to accommodate light/life through cognition of God, accomplishes the first phase of development by accepting the Divine Fire – the Holy Spirit, and begins another phase of existence, in which darkness is no more…”

Σ10 Knowledge is the power to think, to speak, to act. Only if the mind comprehends the law that defines and controls the nature (the nature of man, the nature of the world that accommodates existence of man, and the nature of events and things that might be a subject of interest), the mind obtains the actual power to act and to achieve its purposes. Human knowledge is adequate – true reflection of the complete reality of human existence and comprehension of the laws that sustain and control the world of men, if it gives the actual power to act purposefully, efficiently, and successfully. A human being obtains everlasting life only if he has true knowledge of God {John 17:3}.

Σ12  Redemption as the act of salvation of the world, liberation from the power of the arch–evil – undoing the disobedience and distrust of man: the original sin {Genesis 3}, and as the planting of the seed of the eternal life, was done at the cross, when the crucified Son of Man

–– fulfilled the Divine Law and accomplished the Divine Justice

by taking on Himself the sins of man

–– shed His Blood instead of the blood of man

–– placed His Soul for the soul of man

re–creating him and preparing him for resurrection into the eternity

At the moment of death, of the Son of Man, by the Son of God – the Word–God – the Almighty Omnipotent Love of God was consummated, the Word–God became the firmament, foundation, essence {στερεωμα – Genesis 1:6–8; Psalm 17(18):1–2} of human soul–heart–mind, and a new creation, who is granted the authority to become a child of God born of God, came into being {Mark 10:45; Luke 12:49; John 1:12–13; 4:23–24; 6:33–58; 7:37–39; 11:25–26; 12:23–28; 14; 15; 16; 17; 19:28–30, 33–37; James 1:18; 1 Peter; 1 John 3:5; 4:9–19; 5:1–8; Ephesians 2:1–10, 13–22; Revelation 22:1; Isaiah 51:4–7; 53:3–12}.

The one might envision the essence of redemption as the following:

the Word–God, by becoming a Son of man,

takes on Himself the nature of man

the essence of sinful man is melted by the Divine Fire of the Omnipotent Perfect and All–forgiving Love of God

the evil–insufficiency–ability to sin as the lot of man within the temporal world of man is annihilated,

 and after physical death–disintegration of the bond with the “cursed” matter,

a man may be resurrected into the eternity with God

a new–born creation of God – a Christian, a child of God created in likeness of the Word–God, comes to life:

the firstfruit of new creations made in likeness of the Word–God

Who placed His soul for His followers, the children of God Who is the Spirit and the Fire,

so they would live by the Holy Spirit and in the presence of God forever

This future of man was foreseen by the Old Testament Prophets and became the actuality of human existence after Lord Jesus Christ – the Word–God, the Son of God and the Son of man, committed His Soul for the salvation of man {Isaiah 59:12–21; Daniel 12:10; Malachi 3:1–3; John 10:11; 15:13; 19:28–30; 1 John 5:1–5}.

Since, a true Christian – true follower of Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God, the Word–God, loves Him as his own soul and fulfill His commandments as his own will.
